Aussie,

Must have missed the first post.  Without trying to "dis" anyone, IMO pipes like those don't really look all that "cool", and they definitely don't help the performance of the bike.  Reminds me a little of the short individual pipes (maybe 12 - 18 inches long, with a curve from the exhaust port down to the frame rail, and a slash cut tip) that have been real common on customs this past year.  Look cool to some folks, but are useless on a bike you intend to actually ride.  If the purpose is to make a lot of noise and to generate big backfires, these will probably work fine.

Agree with GRC.  The short pipes don't appeal and are even harder to tune right.  I guess they might be good for high RPM runs at the track but not for every day riding.  I much perfer the 2 into 1 Thunderheaders for sound and perfomance 8-)

Jerry, the front pipe still about 30 inches long & the rear is a few inches longer
 [smiley=drink.gif]
Aussie,

I know.  I just mentioned that they [highlight]reminded[/highlight] me of those short pipes.  You know, the more I look at them they also remind me of the pipes on the SE drag bikes.  Either way, not my cup of tea.

Those pipes look like they would wake someone up in the Penthouse of a high-rise apartment. What does that bike sound like, and how often does it set off car alarms? ;) Heh, those pipes might even set off a motion detector alarm in a residence (I can picture the glass rattling, as it rides by). I don't think I would be to found of riding behind that bike.

BTW that's a nice looking SE Fatboy w/wide tire kit on it. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Do you have anymore pictures of that bike? I'm interested in the side shot of the rear wheel etc.

Any info on who did the tire kit? Do you know the owner? I don't want a 240 or bigger, just a 200.

Like the fat rear end on this bike, but for the cost, I'll stick with the 200mm on the se2.

Well I got a set & I quite like them, they are really really loud! & I don't mind the look either, performance wise it seems to go the same (no worse anyway) as before with the V&H big shots. I will not run them all the time mainly because of the noise & do not want to be booked for noise. (but loud pipes save lives)

As the rear pipes wraps forward around the nose of the cam cover it appears to stick out there a bit.  How close is that to your leg?

Looks like it might be a problem with the standard floorboards Vs the forward controls you've switched over to.

Excellent job looks good (probably better) then they did before alterations. You've definitely got the knack for working on scooters. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Don't know what you do for income, but you may have missed your calling. You may want to think of turning your hobby into your occupation (at least part-time to get you some more OCD funds ;)).

I decided to extend the pipe by 12 inches. it looks a lot better & sounds a bit better too.

Cheers

That just looks "right."  Nice job, Aussie!  [smiley=2vrolijk_09.gif]

That's a cool, custom looking pipe for a custom looking bike.  Great look!  I also think it might look better extended, maybe even another 2 inches.

I like the wider rear tire on the silver 05 SeFB you posted earlier also but don't think the handle bars match the custom look the bike is trying to attain.  I personally don't think a retro set of bars belongs on a wide tire bike with custom/drag pipes...
