2005 Buying Advice
« on: October 13, 2010, 09:39:59 AM »

Hello,
I'm considering a swap of my show chopper for a 2005 SE Fat Boy in silver / grind.  Currently have a 2010 SESG which we use in the UK and continental tours (well, once so far anyway).    The Fat Boy would be kept at our home in Spain and used for a few days once every 6 weeks and for two weeks during August.

The bike in question is a one owner model with 5000 miles, FHSH and would be given a 5k service before sale has V+H slash cuts and stage 1.   The bike would come with the HD 1 yr warranty.

Questions:

1, Have these bikes proven to be reliable when not used all that regular?

2, Are there any known issues that I should be looking at prior to purchase?

3, Are these bikes fun to ride / blast around two-up without any further work?

Cheers,

Hmmm, if you are used to touring models you may be a bit disappointed with the performance of a softail. A Road King may be less of a change.
