« on: December 17, 2006, 08:22:43 PM »

Has anyone modified their intake manifold or throttle body???  I know that Dakota Kid and BCG does some mods,  but is it worth the $$????   And, what kind of tuning had to be done post mod???  What did you do????

Beagle,

Give a call over to Wes at cycle rama he does these all the time.  Most guys went from 43 to 48 mm and you will want to retune the bike as it will add that much more volume.  Cost is about 1/2 the price of a whole new throttle body roughly 325 - 350 dollars.

The advantage though to a new throttle body is a larger intake the stock harley ones are a bit narrow compared to Zippers and Horsepower Inc.  The other advantage is that you have little downtime if this is a bike you ride a lot.

BEAGLE Yes you can have your's bored out but the butterfly and the intake will still choke your flow down. IMHO it is a waste of money. I am going to send you a PM when I get home. I have a modified stock unit if you want to try it.
