Mikeytee's natural drink holder repaired.
« on: October 19, 2014, 12:52:53 PM »

Well I went MUSC ( Medical University Of South Carolina ) Friday morning to have my little finger straightened out. The little finger on my left hand would not straighten out and had become a real problem.
I would joke about it being the perfect drink holder, but it had become a real problem and was finally  causing some real pain. So I go in and they are going to do a nerve block rather than put me under. Wrong Robin! Nerve block didn't take so they put me under. One and a half to two hour surgery ends up taking over three hours. ( No big deal. ) Well I wake up and there is a cast and monster wrapping on the end of my arm. The attending nurse tells me they want to look at it and remove the bandage/cast and stitches  on Nov. 5th. WTF that is three weeks. Have you ever tried to button your pants using just one hand? Can't be done. And zipping them up is almost as bad. Also forget tying your shoes. Anyway I get to play the helpless card for a few days, as Susie feels sorry for poor little ole me. The bad part is that I can;t get out on the bike and this is the best time to ride around here.

Counting the days till the riding resumes.

Take care of yourself Mike and heal up quick!  As the others have stated, you have a fine lady to help you thru this.  Regarding Nov 5th, we would probably never get anything done if they told us the truth up front.  It'll be here quicker than you think.

Here's hoping you'll heal up quick, Mike!  :2vrolijk_21:

At our ages, I'm sure I don't have to tell you about the Two Minute Warning... I get it when I have to pee... I WILL pee in two minutes after I get it, no matter what. When you get it, make sure you heed it, so you have enough time to unzip and "assume the position" with your bandaged-up hand!

And little Apple Pie will always help!

Sorry to hear about all the issues for the pinkie surgery but glad it's over and you are on the mend.  Prayers to you my friend that it will heal completely and you get back full use quickly.  It is a great time to ride this part of the season in your neck of the woods but go outside, enjoy the Fall air and drink a little pie.  Will make these next three weeks go by quickly.

Thanks for the well wishes and prayers. I plan on milking this around the house for as long as possible.
Luckily I made up some Apple Pie and some Strawberry/ Peach, so I have something to control the pain.
( Come on pain! )
Thanks again,

Hope you heal fast, was it trigger finger you had? I just got right shoulder rotator cuff repair surgery plus decompression so I know what you mean on zipping pants up and tying shoes. Dr says I won't be able to ride for about 4 to 6 months.

MIKEYTEE, I hope you heal fast & with full recovery. I feel your pain though with the complications. for me,I've had 2 rotator surgeries on the left shoulder, 3 surgeries on the left hand in 2013 & still may need a third cut on shoulder again (partial tear for now). Oh, did I mention I'm left handed. not only the getting dressed part has been difficult along with the shoes, zipper, etc, but try the toilet paper routine after doing it one way for almost 60 yrs. NOT FUN!  take care, just enjoy the ride ( in the recliner)   :2vrolijk_21:

I saw Soozie's cast on Facebook and it is 3 times bigger than mine. I get mine off next week. I didn't get any sympathy and still have to do the cooking around here. It's all good.
