Title: What mods have you done so far to your RGU, and which were your favorites?
Post by: RGlideKid on July 27, 2015, 12:34:00 AM
I've added the V&H Pro Pipes, Monster Rounds, and the SE Pro Tuner, a SoftBrake extended brake lever, Boogey Lights, different derby and timer covers, a NuShield DayVue on the Boom!Box, driver footboard extensions, and u-nuts and bolts to keep the saddlebags intact!
Guess my favorite so far would have to be the entire Stage 1 upgrade with the pipes, but I do love the new lowered and extended brake lever!

So everyone...tell us what modifications/accessories you've added so far to your RGU's, and which have been your favorites?

My painter did them when he did the bags, fascia, and TP light.

$200's a bargain, Steve!  Good find!  Craigs and ebay can have some good deals on occasion!

My list is fairly short. Fullsac DX pipe w 2" cores TTS tuner and Doc's magic tuning. Also installed 1" lowering blocks on rear. Now searching for a more comfortable seat then a new windshield. Other than that I'm pretty well satisfied. UP DATE;   Added a set of Ohlins #2 adj so the lowering blocks are gone. Also added a Corbin 2 Up Touring seat and the matching backrest for the TP.

I recently installed Custom Dynamics LED turn signals front and rear, plus the BCM module to turn the rear turns and brake lights into modulated simultaneous brake lights.
I also installed the "Screamin' Eagle" Chrome emblem on my tour pack that I special-ordered off this forum.
I have an Airwing Horn Bell cover and the "SE 110" medallion that will go on over the next couple of weeks as well as an Escort Passport radar detector and mount.
I installed a 15" medium smoke Freedom Shield and have a 10" dark smoke for hot weather rally weekends or big city rides where I can get a little more air at lower speeds.
That's about it for now, but I'm sure more will follow.

RCX Slip-ons and Red turn signal bulbs......Really hated the amber turn signals and wasn't spending $89 on the Custom dynamics

Actually had a clockworks windshield off my other Roadglide and the custom dynamics front turn signals.

Been pretty damn busy in the few weeks you've had that.

SE 10.5: forged pistons
SE Cam plate and oil pump
SE Roller rockers
SE Adjustable pushrods
SE Valve springs
SE Pro Super Tuner
Fueling Race lifters
Black Widow cams
Fullsac pipe
Rinehart 4" mufflers
SE plugs and wires
etc.
The Super Tuner made the difference. Still pulling mid-40's on mpg with increased power and torque.

Who did the tune?  Sounds like they did a good job.

I had the work done at Foster H-D, but the owners sold the dealership. Still trying to find the tech that did the work.  Just pulled a couple of 49 mpg trips--about 550 miles--while cruising at highway speeds. Think he tuned it spot-on!

Wow guys, I really haven't done much to Beau.
15" Freedom shield light tint
CD LED halo front turn signals (from my '12)
CD LED rear bullet turn signals (amber)
Clear bullet lenses all around
Moved the passenger board mounts to the opposite sides to move the boards back a bit
Removed the muffler/pipe extensions that were rusting in both SE mufflers
Will add the "110" derby cover when that comes in from a member on the West coast
Replaced the stock air shocks with the 12" HD premium adjustable shocks

That's it.  No motor/intake/exhaust work on this one.  I may have it tuned at some time down the road but I'm very happy with it just as it was when I bought it.

Recently finished my Winter garage project of installing a Screamin' Eagle High Flow Exhaust System #64800022 (with power cones in lieu of the closed end caps for added sound). As soon as the temperature gets comfortable enough to ride I'll tune the ECM with my Dynojet Power Vision PC-2.

- Screamin' Eagle High Flow Exhaust System w/Power Cones
- Dynojet Power Vision ECM tuner (significantly improved the stock setup as well)
- Klock Werks fairing screens (I'm allergic to bee stings .....wouldn't be without these)
- eGlideGoodies Ultra Brace for Tour-Pak (allows opening TP lid w/heavy luggage on TP rack)
- 16" Freedom Shield in light grey tint (just tall enough to keep my BSR wife happy)
- NuShield DayVue anti-reflective film (NU068RA) for Boom!Box (while not perfect ........does a nice job)
- Shorty antennas
- Kuryakyn front LED turn signals
- Live to Ride fuel tank cover
- HD triple insulated 25 oz Skull Bottle and Drink2Go Beverage Holder (keeps drinks cold and easy to reach)

I swore when I went to the CVO's the only thing I would add is gas, oil and tires. It's a sickness especially during the winter months. So far Vance & Hines monster ovals, saddlebag lights, custom shift linkage and a custom scripted screaming eagle ebmlem for the tour pack. Then yesterday dropped off the heat sheilds and tour pack light bar at the paint shop. Will post pics when I get it back together. Thinking about an upgrade for the audio at highway speeds its hard to hear the music, anybody else have that issue?

I've been fixated on those very nice chrome Screamin'Eagle emblems for the rear of my Carbon Dust colored Tourpak and attempted to order one from Dave Wilson of Custom Billet Works. Although they'd had six manufacturing runs of these emblems over the years, unfortunately they were completely sold out of the chrome version. Dave advised they'd lost their high quality chrome shop contractor and had decided not to manufacture any more. Dave mentioned he had some black powder-coated versions still in stock and even though I was skeptical how "black on black" might look, he sent me one so I might see if it worked. I had to admit the "black on black" had a subtle allure to it, but when I experimented and placed the black emblem against the Autumn Sunset saddle bags, I was so impressed I ordered a second black emblem for the other bag. Check it out:

I almost like that better than the chrome!  It really works there, and looks great!
I'm sure you've seen the "normal" placement shown below, but you got inventive with it.  I wouldn't have put a black or a chrome one on my right bag, but the same blue color might have looked sharp.

Thanks for your compliment Harry! Honestly, a solution such as your chrome SE emblem placement is, as you said, the more "normal" and  what I would have preferred. The black on black did have a subtle appeal which I'd have gone with if the saddlebag location hadn't presented itself as "mo bettah" ;D while "placing" the emblem in various locations. Another location possibility might be the side of the saddlebag lid .......but for me that was "black on black" again. With chrome as an available choice, your "normal" solution is still the best however :2vrolijk_21:
