Looking for 2 into 1 recommendations
« on: February 07, 2016, 11:30:42 PM »

I have always been a fan of 2 into 1 exhaust systems.  Last 2 bikes have had Screamin Eagle (Super Trapp) systems which have worked out well.  Current bike, 08 CVO Road King has Rinehart true duals which my neighbor would like to buy for his 07 96 inch Street Glide.

So I'm open to any and all suggestions for a good not excessively loud 2 into 1 that works. Not real fond of Thunderheaders and would like to try something different than Super Trapp.

And must have 18 mm O2 sensor bungs.

I had a 2 into 1 Rinehart on my 09 SG. Decent sound, good numbers. I think it comes in Chrome and black now.

If the ST 2:1 is tried & trued, not at all excessively loud... Why fix what ain't broke  :nixweiss:

Up for something different... Dragula 2 would be my choice  :2vrolijk_21:

Cant go wrong, but you can go broke, so why spend the extra on it when there is nothing lacking in the Drago and he supports the web sites and gives great customer service.    :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

My vote goes to the V&H Pro Pipe .... fit and finish is excellent and so is the sound. I love the stepped megaphone look of the muffler and this thing sounds just as good off the throttle as it does on, reminds me of a jake brake every time you shift and back off the throttle. The standard baffle it comes with is perfect, you can hear your tunes fine and still hear the nice deep sound of the pipe too. My only regret is I didn't use this on my last 3 harleys. Mine came with the 12mm bungs, not sure if you can get the 18mm or not for your's ?

If it were me, I'd do Dragos or Rush. Drago says they are different, but I suspect the differences are minimal.

My buddy ran the old Dragula and now runs the Dragula 2, and it has a great sound- actually sounds like a Harley, unlike the D&D (IMO of course).

Another vote for the Dragula2. Had the dealer install theirs on my bike to do a comparison pull on the dyno from my current setup. Although numbers were a little better with the Dragula2 the sound to me was ALOT better. That pipe sounds great to me. Mine is currently on order and due in next week!!! By the way Frank Drago is a great guy to deal with as well!!!!!    :2vrolijk_21:

I liked mine as well. But eventually the heat from the rear pipe had me put my old V&H duals back on. The finish on the D&D was the best I have seen on exhaust systems.

Talked to Frank today. Cancelled my order for a Boarzilla (still a great pipe) and opted for the Dragula 2 with falsie on my new 117" FLTRUSE. Baffle options + ceramic coat + great warranty + Frank being a cool guy won me over. Drago has a special going on now. Saved me a little bit over D&D. PJ

Dragula(1) for me. Took off a new D&D FC that had replaced the Rineharts & replaced it with the Drago pipe (and four hundred less)!!! The FC was Too Damn Loud! The Dragula I'm noticing after two years is *getting* louder but still way better than the FC.

edit: I recently repacked the baffle and the Dragula is still sweet.

Don't know how tall you are but I'm 5'6" so the Boarzilla on mine is very close to my leg as the pipe coming off the rear cyl sticks out and I noticed the Drago tucks in real close so not an issue. I also got what DND calls the quiet baffle which tones it down some but definetly not quiet. However if you want DEEP AND LOUD that is what it is standard. If I had to do over I would choose the Drago. I'm not sure but some of the Drago 2-1's stand out from the rear cylinder just like the DnD So I would ask about that when you order.

My borzilla rear cylinder pipe is tucked in pretty good. Don't know if they changed the design or if its the install...or it doesn't bother me. They are LOUD. In Florida thats not a bad thing though...lets everyone know I'm there. Drago is a great exhaust as well. I almost bought one

Thanks for all of the informative replies.  Ordered a set of Drago's and the icing on the cake, my neighbor with an 07 Electra Glide is buying the Rinehart true duals coming off the bike!  Now that to me is a win-win.  Frank Drago was great to talk to and walked me through which baffles and tip to get.

Well excuse the chit out of me for commenting on your post. I wasn't aware that wasn't allowed. Skippy has a business that allowed him to set up accounts with vendors of all kinds. He has an account with D&D and has helped a lot of people by selling them a pipe at a low price. He also has other accounts with other vendors and sells things other than motorcycle parts. The purpose is to help people get things at a reasonable price.
I buy a chit load of Royal Blue and sell it to my friends for my cost after they see the results on any of my bikes. No, I don't want to be a vendor.
I just like to see bikes shine.

It's nice to see members helping other members, that is all.
There are a lot of members here that do that!
Just sayin'.

No need to excuse yourself, but maybe you might want to refrain from commenting on things that aren't directed to you. The rules of posting to www.CVOHARLEY.com specifically state...

[1]Do not use this Forum for shameless self promotion of your website/business. This includes using a business name as your member name, putting links to your business in your signature, and identifying yourself or being identified as a motorcycle based business. Exceptions will be made for any business/vendor offering a minimum of 10% discount on parts/services to site members and will be identified by "Vendor" under their username.

Which would mean/include someone that is selling motorcycle related parts/products and mentioning that fact on this site. He is not being treated any differently then any other member that would identify themselves as offering (selling) said products. His Excited/Spontaneous Utterance brought it to my attention and it was handled like it would any other that would have been noticed. If you would like to discuss this any further feel free to contact myself or any of the other moderators of the site.

Meanwhile, back on the topic: the rear pipe of the "original Dragula" sticks out rather noticeably and has a big radius bend which creates a problem for some folks. I'm not tall at 5'9" and it doesn't bother me. It did require that I discard the plastic heat deflector which seems a bit ironic. Ymmv.

The newer "Dragula II" has its (now straight) rear pipe really tightly tucked in.
I don't know if the Dyno sees a difference between the two; I am hoping some guys here can tell us if there is a difference in actual performance.

My buddy from FLA with a 103 Road Glide has run both, and he said there is little to no difference performance wise between the two.

Thanks for that. Sounds like DND redesigned their rear pipe to fit close in same as Drago's new one. I thought I saw an earlier Drago that stuck out same as My early Boarzilla. I'm 5'6 and have the burns on the back of my leg because of it. I guess maybe a newer one might be in my future so I don't get burned. It's kind of like hitting your thumb with a hammer the second time hurts way more. Yes I did that once. :'(

Yes you will see a difference. The exhaust is longer and can be adjusted for longer bags. The torque curve will be flatter than the old one. And it will produce better HP on mid and top end. More on larger motors. Nothing between the Dragula 1  will fit on Dragula 2 exhaust  only tips lol.

The new billet cat vortex core works very well if you are / have to run the D&D pipe .. They have been providing me with test pipes for some time and I just did a back to back against the perf baffle and it moved the tq curve back over 1000 RPM  the perf baffle to me is not a great set up for a low comp engine with a bolt in cam .. Always tend to move the tq curve to the right

If I was to spend a lot of money on pipes, I wanted something different that will perform and sound Great! Stainless Specialties made me a 2 into 1 collector.  I bought SS bend segments online.
My local Bike Shop welded it up for me. It's a stepped system that starts with 1 3/4" then 1 7/8" then into a 2" collector. The main muffler is 3 1/2" diameter the core is a straight through type baffle that is 2 1/4" . I have over 60k miles on pipes and S&S V11. Carb motor good tune the pipes gave some dark section the fist 2" of pipe at the heads.

The Majority of pipes turned a golden yellow.  Kinda matches the paint. But only the 1st little bit is dark
