Title: As slip-on's get older Q.
Post by: longlast on May 16, 2019, 07:06:06 PM

25k on my Ultra Classic with Vance & Hines slip-on's and they're  somewhat starting to get louder

Q.
I was wondering as they get older the back pressure would drop,..would the drop in back pressure effect the running of the motor? (make it run leaner or richer)

Does anything have to be done to compensate for the change?

Also what do I need to do (if anything) when the time comes to install new ones?  (regarding motor operation)  would it need to be retuned?

Thanks on any advice

Yes as the packing materials break in mufflers tend to get a bit louder.  Doesn't affect the tuning.  Most often one can swap out "like" slip ons without needing tuning work.
