Gmr 113 kit
« on: April 30, 2015, 04:12:03 PM »

Just got my gmr 113 kit installed haven't really rode far and only up to about half throttle and 3500 rpm until I do a few miles so far feels good though. I don't no if the torque dip is due to mufflers or bad tuning I'm running fullsac dx with 2.25 cores and this has the new .600 cam from gmr as well so we will see what Steve thinks is causing the torque dip maybe eventually change to a smaller core or crushers if that's the cause.

Interesting. I wanna see what caused that dip. I had to reread I thought you had CFR's by the look of that dip lol.

Funny thing is I did have cfr's and got rid of them because it wasn't running good down low with them might be changing again maybe I shoulda gone with the 2.0 cores but I like the sound of the 2.25 and didn't think it would make that much difference

I'm just as confused by the power band and peak number as the dip?  :nixweiss:

GMR has posted dyno sheets all over the internet of better results from a 110 with just their 577 cam, free flowing pipes and A/C and a tune. Bumping the compression really move their dial.....

Lets see what Steve can come up with, maybe the timing marks on the cams are out of alignment or your sumping oil?  :nixweiss:

The dyno it was on always seems to read low 22 hp difference is a lot not quite as much on the torque only 10 but my old man has a 2012 screaming eagle street glide with the screaming eagle high compression Pistons and 259 cams and was about 98 and 106 on the same dyno so I got quite a bit on him and we are both around that 10.5 to 1 just different cam and the 3 cubes so compaird to that I'm happy maybe with differwnt mufflers that curve will look nicer? The shop that did it said the dip was due too to small of a throttle body but I don't think they know what they are talking about I think the bigger throttle body would help the hp at 5-6000 but not down there and it doesn't need any more peek power so I wasnt jumping on that theory.

If we look at the red line only, run # 25, the final pull three days after the other pull. The TQ dip at 2K  lines up
directly with the pig rich spot on the AFR line. This is typical when the tune is not finished. No mystery here. Sorry, just
have to call it like I see it.

So Steve you don't think a smaller core would help this its just the tune being out ?

A 2.25" core is not too big for you build.

I take it your in BC? Big Province I know, but if you were near Nainimo, Lonewolf Tuning has an excellent reputation.

If you're not close to there, I'm sure some locals will chime in to recommended a good tuner.

So Steve you don't think a smaller core would help this its just the tune being out ?

A 2.25 core will typically make the best peak numbers on a build like this. A smaller core would usually move the TQ curve to the left and improve the average across the board. The peak numbers may drop but improving the average TQ should be the focus especially for a Touring build. You will never know until its tuned properly before and after the change. That's what dynos are truly good for, to let you know if your moving forward or backwards in power development. It has to be tuned right or the comparison is bogus.

If the scale on the AFR was opened up (not compressed) I think you would be astonished how far out of wack the tune is and that is just WOT from start to finish of the tune. Begs the question how bad the midrange (lower throttle settings) values are..

You answered your own question. Local Harley dealers typically have dyno operators not tuners. There are some great tuners working for Harley dealers, unfortunately they are typically not allowed the proper time to do a full tune.
