30T Dyno Versus 32T Dyno Results????
« on: May 12, 2012, 04:58:01 PM »

I understand that most dyno runs are done with the stock gearing in 5th gear and that's what most have posted results from.

I would think that Steve at Fullsac has the answer to my question.

Steve, I'm sure you have dyno'd your bike and know the base line for it with the old 32T sprocket.  What difference in dyno results happened when you re-dyno'd with the 30T sprocket?

I know that some have seen different dyno sheets and commented on how they must have been run in 4th gear instead of 5th.  What real difference does it make?

Thanks.

Dan

The difference between 4 and 5 gear on the dyno is typically 1-2 HP and TQ. 6th gear, 1-1 ratio has the least friction, makes the best numbers
appear on the dyno chart. I very rarely make 6th gear pulls. I'm afraid of the back tire exploding at 160 MPH and killing me. How would that look in the news.
"Harley rider gets skull crushed riding on treadmill with out helmet! Will they ever learn?" No reason to push the motor that hard just for a peice of paper.
Going from the stock 2.84 gearing to 3.06 will multiply more TQ creating more friction lowering the final numbers by some very
miniscule amount. Measurable on the dyno? Not with any accuracy.

Steve, thanks for the information.

I was just curious if it would skew the numbers any.

I guess for the most part, not much.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
