Title: Over two months without any posts!!!
Post by: motor1 on February 22, 2018, 08:29:27 PM
I’ve seen dry spells for posts on threads from time to time ( usually FXR2,3 ) something that has been out of production for a while. But a two month break for bikes built in 11, 15, and 16, saddens me. I know bike sales are down but I fear many people are losing interest, even those who currently ride.  Hoping I am wrong.

Possibly because the Road Glide Customs are the current flavor of the month.

I favor the Road Glide Special these days. Similar to the RG Custom just not as hard on the wallet. Use to own 2011 and 2015 FLTRUSE.

Still have mine and riding when the weather cooperates, recently serviced the roadglide and the heritage springer, scheduled to get new tires next week on the glide, currently in the process of planning a trip to Nova Scotia (Cabot Trail) for later this year.

My past 2 months has been terrible with the bike in the shop.  Started back around the holidays when it wouldn't start.

That first trip was a new stater and voltage regulator.  While they had it they found compensator needed replacing and also front bearings.

A second trip about 3 weeks later again wouldn't start.  Turns out the BCM blew up.

Got it back and only a couple days later I am blowing oil.  They found that the rear seal had blown out and lost all my oil.  Basically the motor is being completely rebuilt.  Hoping to hear something today or early next week.

I am so badly needing to ride, actually hit 80 here in Washington DC this week and I was in my truck.

Hopefully all the bad stuff is out of the bike now.  Been putting my trip plans together for the year.  Big ride of the year will be out to Durango, CO for a Road Glide gathering then up to Sturgis before coming home.

UPDATE, went out to the shed and turned on the switch, hit the starter button, starter drug for about a half second and it came to life. pushed an other button or two... tire pressure reading 37 front 41 rear, not bad for sitting since November so i rode it  :2vrolijk_21:

We are doing our southwest tour. Death Valley, Joshua Tree and Lake Havasu. What a great time of year to ride home in the southwest.

At 72 degrees, Spring has arrived here on the Western Slope of Colorado :orange: I took my 15 out for an hours ride on our nearby Fruit and Wine Scenic Byway and enjoyed blossoming orchards and the irrigation canals refilling after their Winter shutdown. Planning either a mid-July or mid-August ride which would include Yellowstone, Beartooth Hwy and Sturgis during non bike week. The damned Ride Planner is a PITA as even though I've dated the ride during Summer months, it won't let me route through roads currently closed (Winter) >:(.
