Title: Oil pump alignment?
Post by: Wick on December 08, 2017, 03:37:55 PM
Quick question is it required to realign the oil pump when you remove the cam plate or can it be removed and reassembled as a complete unit. Removing mine to replace tesioners and lifters.

IMO if you remove the camplate assembly and do not remove the oil pump from the camplate, you do not need to realign it (but would replace the viton oil pump inlet o-ring).

Once you get the plate and pump out you might want to inspect the gerotors and housing closely for abnormal wear as well as replace the o-ring.  Personally, even if the pump has never been removed from the plate since the factory bolted it all together, I still think I'd realign it after reinstalling the plate.  It's a simple process.
