Title: Amsoil V-Twin Transmission Oil Hard to Read on Dipstick

Gents,
I have been running Amsoil in all three holes on my 2015 CVO Street Glide since my break in oil change. I have always had a hard time reading the transmission dipstick due to how clear the oil is on the chrome dipstick. Any complaints for other users? I sent in my comments to Amsoil and they said they have had that product feedback that others have had that problem. I asked about a dye to tint the oil and make it easier to read and I was told they had no preferred company the would recommend to get a dye. Does anyone have a recommendation on a dye to utilize with their product? I really don't want to switch to another brand like Red Line after utilizing Amsoil for 17K miles.

I think you are worried about nothing. Put in what the manual calls for, put the dipstick back in and change it every 5,000 miles.  I am not being a smart ass. Just don’t over think it.  Sorry I don’t know the answer to your question.  😩

I've heard of guys lightly sanding the tip or painting it with a matte finish paint.  You can also quickly and carefully place the dipstick on a clean rag laying flat and see where the oil is absorbed.

 paint your dip stick or use a lill powder on it ....  :nixweiss: .... dont think we need to reinvent the wheel to solve this deal

I use blue dye in the tranny (caterpillar brand) it only takes a very very small amount so there is no worry about changing the consistency of the oil.  I use red dye (also cat) in the primary.  I did this because I had a very light oil seep and couldn’t tell if it was coming from the tranny or primary.

If you use blue dye you will definitely be able to see it b/c its a smurf blue and looks like Easter egg die...kind of pretty, haha

Roughen up the surface of the dipstick so the oil will cling better and the finish will be dull.  That's a one time fix versus adding dyes every time you change the lube.

If you don't have leaks, it's not necessary to constantly check the trans fluid level.  Have you had issues with the level going down over time?  Or are you only checking when you change the fluid.  If only when changing, get a clear funnel that is marked in ounces, fill it with the correct amount of trans lube, and use it to fill the trans.  I actually have one that has a valve and short hose attached as well as a lid, made just for this sort of fluid fill task.

I don't know why the MOCO makes the tranny fluid dipstick chrome as I have always had to look close at it when filling or checking. Hasn't been a problem for me since using the Pepto fluid. Some good suggestions though.
