Title: 124" Motor and Primary Chain
Post by: ltank on April 11, 2018, 07:42:24 AM
I installed a S&S V124 in my 98 Road King. I have almost 3k miles on it and I started noticing a possible Primary noise. Most likely the chain has stretched. I took care when breaking in the motor.
Did the chain stretch because it's new or too much Motor? How often will I be replacing Primary chains? My FXR4 V111 has over 60k miles on it's Primary Chain. Both Diamond chains. I will be inspecting it Soo.
Thanks Guys

Itank,

My 124 is a 160+ in an 02 RK and still on same chain.   I had to do a little adjusting in the beginning, but since then it’s been fine.

No issue with my 92 FLTCU 127. But I'm running a Hayden tensioner.

OK thanks guys. I opened the Primary and the chain is in that spot where it's either too tight or almost too loose when cold.
It's noisy when hot. So , I bought a Baker fine tooth Primary Chain manual adjuster that has 30 percent more teeth for easier adjustments.
