Motorcycle Rental

Anyone ever rent from Eagleriders? Going to be down in Boca in Jan thought I might rent a bike for a few days and ride to the Keys.

Yep, that's who it was......you wouldn't want to rent from them.  I've rented from Eagle Riders in San Francisco years ago.  They were two hours late (brought the bike from another location) so they gave me a discount and two extra days for free. :2vrolijk_21:

I was told by the rental guy at Alligator Alley that Harley was gonna stop rentals completely. But they were gonna have an outside vendor handle the rentals. This outside vendor would still use dealership space. That's what I was told about a month ago don't have any way to confirm this info.

I rented from Eagleriders in Vegas back in 05.  Pretty simple, like renting a car.

Even though helmets are not required in FL,,, 'thinking that you have to have a DOT helmet to rent a bike???  :nixweiss:

When we were out West a few years back, all the EagleRiders rentals had Florida plates  :confused5:

I  compared the price of renting from HD dealer and Eagle Rider when we went to Vegas last year. For the price of 1 day from the dealer I paid for 1 year membership at Eagle Rider and with each month you get 1 day rental free.
You should check into it.

I went to the international motorcycle show this past weekend and saw Eagle Rider set up with the Harley display. I spoke with an Eagle Rider rep who told me Harley and Eagle Rider are now merged (his words, NOT mine).  He went on to say that Harley dealers will no longer do their own rentals. He said all Harley rentals from all Harley dealers are switching over to Eagle. I am not sure how I feel about that, as I have always had good experiences renting from Harley dealers when I have flown to different areas of the country for business trips and such.
I was not able to leave the display area before I received a sales speech. I was told to sign up with Eagle Rider ($29.00, per month)  which will give you one rental day a month from any Eagle Rider location. Allegedly you can stack up your days and keep them  for up to two years. For some that might be a great deal.  My fear would be paying 29 a month and never having the chance to use all the days. If anybody jumps on this be sure to proceed carefully and read the fine print.

Also be sure to check the participating locations. Some locations are not signed up to use your free rental but you still get discounted rate.

This makes sense...EagleRider, in the past, also rented Indians.  According to some of the IM forums, EagleRider isn't renting Indians any longer due to a new agreement with the MoCo that mandates only HD rentals.

I rented from Eaglerider in Las Vegas. Three of us all had bikes reserved and everyone was happy. They will loan you a helmet for free and also have jackets not sure on cost. I believe they give AMA members a discount. I would rent from them a gain.

I have visited the USA from South Africa on several occasions and always rented from EagleRider. I have picked up a Harley in Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando and LA. One of my longest trips was over 30 days and 9000Km. Service has always been fantastic and have only had one occasion to call for assistance, stuck in a small town, Adrian, whilst on Route 66. Repairs and accommodation arranged in Albuquerque. Highly recommend EagleRider.

I have rented on 3 occasions this year from Eagleriders, twice in Vegas and once in Vancouver. Myself along with a group have rented Harleys and Indians. The membership plan is a great deal provided you make the commitment to use the credits. The only complaint I have as a Canadian is that the insurance options are very expensive. Otherwise i would highly recommend them.

Rented many times from ER, good. It was costing to much after doing many times, so took my bike down and leave in storage and fly back and forth. Move it around.

Met a guy a while ago that works a lot like many of us and takes a 4 day weekend every couple of months and rides to a C container with a power source. parks his bike and gear and plugs his tender and flys home. Been doing it about a year and has traveled all around the country. Again like many of us he is very committed to his career and putting in the time it takes to be successful at it while his passion is riding so this has worked out great for him.
Super interesting guy and had great stories about his experience.

So your doing a Cruise with ETA.  My wife and I have done this three times, we take both our bikes.  We really enjoy it.  We are hoping to be able to book the 14 day one in 2020 if my work schedule will allow it.  We did a 7 day, to Bermuda this year with them.

So - Dave, do you ride down from Nashville just before the cruise? I had my bike stored at Bumpus HD a couple times now, and thats where we left from in November. Would it be to cold if you left in January, to Florida?

Like others... I rented from them just last week while my bike was in the shop.  No issues whatsoever.  They are a little expensive once you start adding insurance, etc....but based on the four crashed bikes they had from other riders...probably worth the investment at $20/day!  Ha!

Rode down in December for one cruise.  Rode down in February for the first one we did.  We ride down from Knoxville.  It was in the low 30's on the February trip.  We both have heated gear, so the temperature is never the issue.  Only thing I worry about is snow or ice on the road, and rain.  Rain is miserable i the cold.

We obviously really enjoy taking our bikers on the cruise, as we have done it three times now and plan on a fourth.

If you own an Insured motorcycle and it is parked for repairs or you the owner are able to verify you will only be riding the rental unit for an established time per your rental contract, then your owned bike insurance should cover the rental unit. Just as your car policy does a rental car. Your only expense if a loss occurred would be the deductible.
Verify with your insurance agent.
