2014 CVO Limited Ignition
« on: December 08, 2017, 04:37:34 PM »

I just bought this bike at a steal but I only got one set of keys.  Here is the question can you turn on the ignition without a key fob near by?  I turned on the ignition by accident today and it turned on.  I just can not find that second FOB anywhere on the bike.

When you turned the run switch "ON", did you then attempt to start the bike?  If yes, did the starter turn over and the bike start?  The security system just disables the starter and ignition, not the rest of the electrical system.  If in your case you can actually start the bike without your one fob nearby, I'd start to wonder if the other fob was hidden on the bike somewhere by the previous owner so he wouldn't have to carry one around with him.  There are people who in fact have done that very thing, going back to 2007 when Harley first changed to the proximity system instead of the old fobs with a button.  It's not a smart thing to do since it eliminates the security feature completely, at least until the battery in the fob dies.

Well I didn’t start it while the lights and ignition turn on.  The fuel injectors was prime for fuel and on my SGS it was not possible without a key fob.  I will try to start it without my keys tomorrow .

Well the stupid bike started without the key fob.  I don’t get it.  The original owner must hidden a fob somewhere.

The FOB is pretty big so I don't think it will too hard to locate.  You want to find it so you can change the battery and have security as well.

If you bought the bike from the previous owner, contact him and find out what he did.  If you bought it from a dealership, contact them and have them contact the previous owner and get the information.

Good luck.  And it's well worth the effort to sort this out, unless you never park the bike except in a locked garage.

I am assuming the security module gone bad.  I am not able to change the pin on the bike.  Going to the stealer in the spring to get sorted.

Update I finally figured out how to change the pin for the bike and by changing the pin it activated the alarm system.  Thanks for viewing my frustration.  :-)

okay, but what about starting without your fob near by? you stated that the bike started without the fob, that leads me to believe the second fob is hidden in the bike some where, like in the fairing, under seat, side covers, or saddle bags etc If you have neither fob near the bike and you turn on the ignition, it should say "enter pin" in your speedometer
