Getting my first big Harley
« on: March 04, 2018, 04:54:06 AM »

Hi guys. My name is Robert. I am a 41 year old truck driver from Norway. Been riding a few years but next week I’m getting my very first big Harley. A 2002 CVO Road King. I’ve had an old 1995 Sporty before with straight pipes. A noisy little thing.

Right now I have a 1993 Honda Pan European ST1100. I just wanted something with a bit more soul 😜 I’m buying the CVO from my local HD dealer. It’s got brand new tyres and has had a full service. Only has 16000 miles in it. And I’m getting a 1 year warranty with the bike. It’s purple with the silver flames. Love that paint job. As far as I know, it’s pretty stock. Not sure about the exhaust. They say S&S in them. Are they original?

Welcome to a great forum from a fellow SERK owner in Rugby in the U.K. Congrats on the new bike. Hope  the weather is better in Norway than it is here as we have a lot of snow and the bike is staying in the garage. Whereabouts in Norway are you?

Dave

Thanks guys. I’m from Bergen. South western Norway. We usually don’t have very hard winters here, but we do have snow here now. But I ride all year. Have a water hose next to my house so I can get the salt off the bike after I ride during the winter.   It I haven’t ridden in almost 2 weeks because there’s too much snow between my house and the main road. The roads are clear and dry. Problem is getting my bike to the road 😜🤣

I got the Hurtigruten from Bergen a few years back and went all the way to Kirkenes. Norway is stunningly beautiful.

Yes it is. And has some fantastic roads wether you’re on a Harley or a sport bike. But an expensive country to vacation in.

Thanks guys. Just been out removing some snow. Should help getting it away faster when it gets warmer.

Speaking of cold weather. I ride a lot in the cold and want a fairing and been looking at various batwing fairings. The simple ones without inner fairing are cheap but I think since I’m first doing it I might as well go all the way and get one with stereo and speakers. My question is, my CVO has the rev counter that kinda sticks up a little infront of the handlebar clamps. Would that get in the way with a batwing fairing with stereo?

I’ve got a Memphis Shades Batwing without a stereo on mine. Here is a picture that shows the view from the seat if that helps.

But on the CVO there is a rev dial as you can see here
http://www.eglidegoodies.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/tackw300.jpg

As you can see it sticks up and forward.  Will that be in the way of a batwing with stereo? I’ve got two different types added to my eBay cart right now. But I’m not sure which one to buy. One is the Memphis Shades without stereo. The other is a Tsukayo fairing with 6x9 speakers.
