R & R cycle air filter kit

My bike is at R & R getting a Bassani Roadrage B4 and dyno tune. That are offering me there replacement air filter for better flow. I really like the looks of my stock Ventillator with K&N filter, but I’m wondering how much difference there 0 loss style filter will make if I add it. The bike is a 117 at 10.7 compression, suburban speed worked heads, tman 590, 58 MM throttle body.

Everyone loves max HP but looks matter too!  Unless your taking your bike to the drag strip. It's probably between 2-6 hp gain depends on a lot of factors on your engine combo.  Don't sweat a couple hp's if you like the look.  In another thread it was pointed out that my choice in an air cleaner may not be the the most hp one available and I'm ok with that cause I like the look.  Your choice.

The best way to answer your own question is to have the shop do comparison dyno runs for you, first with your stock air cleaner then with their air cleaner installed.  That will give you an idea of the stock air cleaner's restriction.  Btw, if you prefer the look of your Ventilator versus their round filter, you can modify the Ventilator to run a wider K&N filter.  And you will need to match the backing plate bore to the new larger throttle body, either by machining the stock part or buying the 58mm backing plate from Harley for about $80.  There are some threads around here discussing this option.

Here's an attachment showing the kit Tilley H-D offers to modify the Ventilator.  You would also need to machine or replace the backing plate.

Good decision.  Those wider (deeper) air cleaners might flow more air, but they also eat up space your right leg would like to occupy.  Four hp might mean something if you planned to race the bike, but for normal riding you probably won't be able to tell the difference.

I have the thicker filter from tilleys and had my back plate machined to run with my 58mm throttle body. I'm not sure how much it helped, but it sure gets a lot of compliments...
