New Guy Here.
« on: March 18, 2008, 04:07:01 PM »

Hi all
Have been looking a little through your website and am very very impressed, well done. I have been biking for for 27 years now and am finally getting myself a Harley. I spent a ton of money on my 2000 Nomad dressing it up right and like the bike just fine but I want a Harley for cruising and having fun. The socials that Hog chapters have are great fun and there are so many other great experiences you can have in the Harley Family that's just not organized for the other makes. My dilemma now is which bike. I LOVE the 08 FXSTSSE2 in orange but have heard a fair amount of negative feedback about leaky heads and other engine problems which makes me shy away from this bike. I would never hear the end of it if I had to ride my Nomad because the SE was in the shop....   :-[
My other option is just a regular Dyna Low Rider with a SE 103 inch motor and a SE transmission. I love to customize so if I get the Dyna I will have more money in it then if I bought the SEST after a couple years, I know it... ;)

My heart really lies with the FXSTSSE2 though. Any suggestions?
Thanks all and I look forward to reading your posts and learning from you all
Cheers
Bob

Welcome to the site Bob, from Ontario Canada. I've been driving HD's for years so what you pick is a personal preferance. Why don't you try to get on a HD demo ride & see whats best for you? Hopefully there is a demo ride close to where you live. Let us know what you picked & get in some pics. Muffman from Canada.

Welcome from Oklahoma!

You are right about having more $$$$ in a non-CVO bike after all the add-ons (been there & done that).  As has already been mentioned, go with the CVO bike of your choice and also purchase the extended warranty.  Then develop a good relationship with the service dept. at your dealer. :2vrolijk_21:

Welcome from central Maine.

The best thing to do is get the bike that you truly want. If you don't, you will regret it later!

Get what feels right. Life is to short to always be saying "I wish I ....................."
Better is "I'm glad I ............."

Welcome to the site ......we can spend your money fast!

with the cost of cars, I just figured might as well get 2 bikes and I have 3 now (still cheaper than cars)

get the one you want and do not worry about the head problems.....it will either not hit or it may be under warranty or just give you an excuse to do engine rebuild, but the bottom line is it is cheaper than cars...

get 2  a dresser and a Dyna
