Got the dreaded call Saturday morning. One of my riding buddies was on his way to the hospital and I needed to go and scoop up his bike from the side of the road and get it in the trailer. He was on the sport bike and hit a woodchuck. flipped end over and seperated from the bike. The bike is trashed. He is bruised and took a few stiches in his leg but survived pretty well. He wore through his armored jacket in several places so he slid a ways. All & All could have been a lot worse.  :confused5:  :confused5:

Sorry to hear about your friends crash.  I'm glad that it was not more serious.

I had a English Bull Dog run in front of me when I was a teenager riding a 175 honda.  I hit the dog at about 35 mph and went end over end.  Didn't hurt me or my bike very bad - I rode away.  As for the dog, I don't think he ever slowed down - I hit him and he just kept running.

So sorry to hear about your friend's loss of control.  Glad to hear he will live to tell the tale later, and hopefully will be able to get back on that horse before the fear sinks in.  One of the hardest lessons learned as a child.  I can't tell you how many times I sat on a horse I'd fallen off from - for one reason or a million, crying my freakin eyes out.  But my Dad would put anyone of us up on the horse or at least some horse if for some reason we left it.

Wow!  end over from a woodchuck!  That's scary right there.  My only advise is to take NO avoidance measures for small creatures.  Leaving the road is worse than killing an over sized rodent.  I'm glad he's OK.

getting back on the saddle takes guts i fell of my bike doing 90kmh, slide down the road a ways, wore the protective elbow though on my jacket, trashed my riding boots. Took over 2years to get my full confidence back riding through left handers at speed. Keep ur friends spirits up n get him back riding asap

Glad it is not so bad as far as the rider's health.  I had a similar call at Laconia in June, my buddy wiped out on the kancamangus and was on his way to the hospital.  Bike is bad, he had only bruises and is now fine.

Thanks for all the kind words. I delivered his bike back last night. He is in real good spirits even though he needs help to walk on uneven surfaces and has a few stiches. I think he will have a few scars. He is already shopping (on the internet) for a new bike. Says he is going back to work (aircraft mechanic) as soon as he can get his shoe on.
