Heres a couple easy questions on Tires /Brakes
« on: October 12, 2008, 03:31:28 PM »

I traded some work with an owner of a repair shop, For my end, I get tires and brakes. I want to try the Metzlers, Will the Marathon 150 on the rear be ok for any clearance issues?,

Question 2:, what brake pads would you use?

Thanks in advance

Question #2 - Lyndal Z+ Brake Pads. Less brake dust, better stopping power.

99-03 have a 1.5" belt and it will not fit. The belt and or guard will rub on the side wall.
04-06 have a 1-1/8" belt and fitment of a 150 is possible on some but will rub on others depending on aligment etc.
07-09 have a 1" belt and the 150 will fit

As DooD said, Lyndall Z -plus for the pads.

If you ride two up a lot, consider the load rating on the tire.

Heck, when I ride solo I'm riding two up (by MoCo standards). :huepfenlol2:

What Terry just said.  The load rating of the 140 is a lot more than on the 150..  But if you ride solo, it won't matter.  (except in d00d's case, see above)      :)
X3 on the Lyndall Z's for pads.

Are you saying you need a larger size thong the next time you receive one? :huepfenlol2: ;)  Of course, we could always venture into the Sumo Wrestling outfits, if necessary.

Good points on the load ratings. The 140/90-16 is load rated at 908 lbs, the 150/80-16 is rated at 761 lbs

I went through all these gyrations when deciding on wheels and tires for my former SEUC.  There was no combination to equal the 900+ load rating needed for the rear, no matter the brand.  There was a big write-up in Thunder Press (?)...the free mag you pick up at dealers, etc. last month on tires and load ratings.

If you do a search on "Fired00d and hinges", there are so many threads that come up that you could never read them all.    :)
