Rear air suspension question.
« on: November 01, 2008, 12:51:57 PM »

My SEEG and my FLHRSEI won't take any air in the rear shocks from my HD pump. Oddly enough the pump works on my SEUC...any ideas. When I try it on the 2 bikes it doesn't work on, the PSI's on the guage shoot way up and then bleed off. It appears that the pressure is being held in the air hose and it can't get into the shocks.

Yup. Toss them in the pile of other useless HD stuff and take off parts. Order bitubos from Traxion dynamics.

I had the same problem when I first got my SEEG, and it was caused by the hose coupling of the pump bottoming out before it could depress the valve stem enough to open the valve.  It's caused by the fitting on the bike, not the pump, since mine also wouldn't work with other gauges or pumps.  I fixed it by installing a new valve stem (available at any auto parts store) and not cranking it down as tight as the original, and then replacing the nut that holds the fitting to the bike with a thinner nut.  Actually I used a bench grinder to thin the original a bit, but you can probably find thinner nuts also.

Thanks Jerry. I'll give it that a shot. It doesn seem a little "twilight zone" to me, since this pump worked on all of bikes in the beginning lol. It doesn make sense the valve isn't being depressed, but for the life of me, I can't make sense out of it working at one time and not now.

Concur!  Huge improvement.........most noticeable when you back to air shocks.  Get the Bitubos and be done with it.   :2vrolijk_21:
