Today the Jersey Shore HOG was requested to escort a 9-11 memorial sculpture from the studio to the top of Mt Mitchell, overlooking Raritan Bay and directly across from Ground Zero (Atlantic Highlands, NJ)
The Eagle started out as a 40,000 pound plus block of stone and is down to about 6000 pounds.
In the video link below the Eagle is not complete, later today the artist was to attach the talons, which are gripping a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, giving the impression as to lift it to the heavens.
About 50 members participated, pretty good showing for a weekday run (there are about 300 members total).
I am not sure what the attachment is between the HOG and the artist, as I am a fairly new member, but it appears to be a tight bond. Part of the waste from the block was carved with our group
