Anyone know how many miles before wheel bearings should be replaced?

Aren't they supposed to be good for 100,000 miles?  That said I lost a front one on the 08 at 6,000 miles.

The #1 killer of wheel bearings is a high pressure car wash. The electrics aren't to fond of it either.
