The CVO's are overdriven in the primary sprockets, not the tranny.

So there is a difference between the final ratio between the SE Ultra and the '06 Touring bikes.  So what rpm's are you guys with the SE Ultra's turning at 70 mph?  My RG is at 3,000 rpms at 70 mph which was the same as my '02 did.  How much of a difference is there?

In 5th gear my '06 SE runs the same place (RPM's) at 70mph my '04 Ultra did, no difference, 3K R's.

Thanks, that is about same as my '02 RG did and my '06  does (3K at 70mph).  So will leave it alone.

I'm not sure where the rumor got started that the SE touring bikes had different ratios, but it sure seems to be hanging on.

Thanks GRC.  Good info.

Fr8trn, I would like a 6 speed but just don't like the price tag.  $2K to drop the rpms by 400 at 70 mph is a high price to pay.

Being that nearly every bike on this site is in the $30,000 and up range, I didn't think frugal would be the order of the day.  And the drop is more like 600 RPM, not that it matters.  Would I have it installed again???  Absolutely, won't own a bike without 6th gear again.  For years I've been trying to shift to 6th gear, 5000 miles after getting it I haven't tried for 7th yet.

The highway is really the only place I use 6th, I generally stay above 85mph, don't shift into 6th until I get over 70 atleast, no power under that.  For me it works though.  When I head to Daytona next week it'll be nearly 1000 miles of highway one way, I'm lookin forward to it.
