Windshield storage bags
« on: March 15, 2010, 04:12:42 PM »

Harley says that none of their windshield storage bags will work on a CVO Ultra because of the padded dash. When Harley says "no" we all know better ... but could some one tell me which type bag I could make fit? The 3 hole mount or the clip type? Which one? I'm almost certain many of you have made one fit.

Windshield Bag?

Windshield storage bag, 3 pocket, or the single?

On my 08 SEUC I have the 3 windshield bag setup and it was a breeze to install. Not sure why Harley tells you they wont fit?? The bags do rest on the winshield slightly but I have had it that way for 3 yrs and when it gets to a point that I need a new clearview I will order a new windshield. :nixweiss:

I installed the Harley 3 Bagger on my FLHTCUSE4.  Installation was no problem.  Fit like a glove.  Love the look and the usage is great.  Don't know why Harley says it want fit.  Believe me it does.  will post pic's tonight.

I have the 3 bag/pouch one from my SEUC. I think it is a bit too snug. I am considering the whole dremmel thing and moving the bags to give it more room.  As stated in other posts. I really miss the GLOVE BOX. I am not sold on the bags/pouches. Oh well.

The one I have has 4 clips that fit over the edge of the inner fairing.  Over time, it will leave rub marks on the inside of the windshield, but I have come up with a solution for that problem finally.  I just put a new windshield on my bike this morning and for only $30 some dollars off of Ebay, and really quick shipping, I'll just buy a new windshield whenever I need one.  Actually, you can't see the marks on the windshield unless you take it off because they are black rub marks, and it's right where the pouches are touching the windshield.

It will work but the Klockworks puts way to much pressure on the bags. I got rid of the klockworks and installed a clearview and they work great!!

Anyone tried the T-bag 3 pouch?  The end pouches curve down into the fairing cutouts.

I just bought a 3 bag T-bag yesterday.  Also bought a 10.5" klockwerks windshield.  I live in Canada, and was down in the US for a day ride, so I had to install the stuff while I was there and ride home. The 3 bag fits tight(I have the Hogtunes tweeter pods, but they are same size and shape as factory padded dash)  I had the stock windshield with the harley 2 bag on it. I never liked the two bag because they always look twisted up and you are limited for storage.  Later today after the Easter Lunch guests split, I am going to go out and "make it fit".  From what I can see, if you slit the top of the center mounting hole, it will allow the outer edges of the smaller bags to come up enough to sit flatter.  Might have to trim a bit of the outer underside flaps, but from what I can see it should work fine.  Those T-bags are really neat.  As for the 10.5" Klockwerks.... if you are 5 8" I wouldn't get this one.  I've tried the 6.5" and it is too low, but the 10.5" seems to high.  Shoulda got the 8.5" one.

Actually, you don't have to cut anything with the stock type wshield. I put my harley windshield back on and it fits no problem... just sits up a bit higher on the outsides

Looks ok I think.  The bags are much nicer than the Harley bags. They close better.  I heated the whole thing up with my heat gun before I re-installed it. It took to the shape pretty well.

Just thinking out loud: I installed the padded dash on a E-Glide I owned some yrs back. Seems I remember that there was some "wiggle room" as far as the vertical mounting of the pad. I wonder if, as in everything else quality wise with HD, the holes for the dash pads are slightly differant on each bike. If I was having trouble mounting the windsheild bags I think my first place to look would be if i couldn't clearance the dash pad holes to move it down slightly.  Just a thought.

Could you elaborate a little on this...what part did you reshape?

I heated up the back and underside.  It conformed to the windshield pretty tight.  heated just enouph to make it more pliable.

Anyone know if the mount is metal or plastic on the new T-bag? The H-D 3 pouch system is metal and I too have a clearview and have a clearance problem. I can't seem to get the screw holes to line up and I am worried to strip it out. I really miss my single pouch glove box.

I am amazed that the T-Bag set up works with the dash pad.

The mount is a hard plastic.  That is why I heated it up before squishing it between dash and windshield.  It certainly doesn't fit perfectly, but it fit fits well enough.
Only problem I can see is because of the shape of the outer bags small items sort of get stuck down in the corners, but i still think there is more usable space.

rw3673 - Thanks for the tip.  I put a set of t-bags on yesterday.  As you said they are not prefect, but look pretty good.  Never would have thought of using a heat gun to form them.  Thanks
