Anyone used the BDL Compensating Kit??
« on: May 31, 2010, 10:12:41 PM »

I'm looking to replace my compensator and I came across one made by BDL.  I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if so what did you think of it.

Cheers and thanks, Moe

Hadn't heard of a comp sprocket from BDL before.  Just checked it out on their website.

They give no rationale nor other explanation as to why theirs is "better."  The stock parts don't have a rep for failure.  Found a few places selling them in the $80 range.  For a sprocket and comp nut the price isn't great but it's not scary either.

Whatcha got going on making you consider the change?

Thanks Don.  When I put the chrome inner primary on I noticed it was wearing a bit funny on the back side of the cam.  Just thought if I could find something reasonable enough I would try it.  I'm also looking for new thingys.

It's a lot cheaper than what Harley wants for a comp sprocket.  So even if not "cheap" on it own it's still better than the alternative.  BDL has a good rep.  I'd not be afraid to try it.

Yes it is quite reasoably priced.  I may get one just to try it and see how it works.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I was hoping someone else had been the guinea pig but it doesn't look like it.

Tried emailing them for some info on this and got an automated response that their email would be down until June 1st due to relocation.....Hmmm....it's June 8th.....maybe they meant 2011....perhaps I'll just spend the extra $$$ and get the SE....though I don't really want it....

That newer SE compensator doesn't work with our "old" bikes.  We're just the ugly redheaded stepchildren anymore.  God help anyone with an Evo.

Ooops, crap, my bad.  Was thinking of the older bike.  Knew you'd changed to.  Just saw the pic and forgot.

So I'm the ugly redheaded stepchild and you're not!

Thats alright, you can be required to remember every bike change.......  I'm still up in the air on this though, I'm pullin the primary open for the HB Wedge, sure would like to do something with the compensator while I'm in there.  Just can't find any info.....
