Adjusting 2011 Road Glide Ultra Headlghts?
« on: November 08, 2011, 05:47:09 PM »

Is there a speical tool or socket size that is needed to adjust the headlights on a 2011 Road Glide Ultra CVO?

I've tried all sorts of sockets from 6 point to 12 point and can't get a fit.  What I'm I missing?

Thanks in advance

Not sure if this applies to the 2011 RG but I've been told that the older ones use a 4.5 mm socket.  They DO exist!

Went crazy trying to find a 4.5mm 12point socket, finally found one on a Snap-On truck. 2011 Road Glides all use this socket.

I tried a 6 point 4.5 mm, no joy.  I then tried a 6 point 3/16" a few minutes ago, looks like I'm making some headway.  I don't want to do too much adjustment till I'm outdoors.  In my garage I have a front wheel chock which helps.  Out doors on my own will take some trial & error.  At least I found a socket that seems to work at this time.

I still may get that 12 point 4.5 mm.
Thanks for the feed back.

It tells in the owners manual.

MATCO tool has a 4.5 mm deep socket which is the socket you need runs about $20.   On mine I found that the adjustment screws had been shoved all the way forward had to shove it back through the adjust clip.  It then worked like it was supposed to.   had to take the headlights out to get it squared away.

Nope, just says which way to turn the adjustments, not what size socket to use.
It mentions metric and hex adjusters.

Is the socket 6 point or 12 point that you got?

I had the dealership adjust my headlights last Thursday.  Big improvement.  They used a 3/16" deep socket 6 point for adjustment, go figure.
