Cuey,
Welcome to the site.  Please go over to the New Members introduction thread and introduce yourself to the group.  Glad to have you aboard.  I can only imagine that a 980+lb motorcycle would be a little unwieldy for a new rider such as yourself.  Take it into a vacant church parking lot and do some practicing of what your learned in the MSF course.  Make sure you put some garden hose or similar material around your engine bars and saddlebag guards.  It will protect them, should you accidentally lay the bike down.  Wouldn't want to scratch up a nice new CUSE would we?  Again congrats on your purchase and welcome to the site.

Uh oh. I have already dropped the bike twice and scraped the engine and bag guards. I was told that it was inexpensive to replace or fix them. Is that not the case? I dropped the bike two times the day I bought it. Once trying to push it into my garage after it was delivered, and once when the sidestand wasn't extended fully. The good news is, I haven't dropped it since. Was really embarrassing to have the bike on the ground unable to pick it up. Had to search on YouTube to learn how to pickup a fallen motorcycle.

Welcome from Texas. Like everyone says, practice, practice. It helps also if you can ride with someone with experience. Just let them know you are new. You will be fine. Be careful of the cagers.
