Title: batwing three pocket fairing pouch
Post by: jc15025 on March 05, 2016, 01:52:13 PM
Has anyone put a batwing three pocket fairing pouch on the 14,15 or 16 street glide and does it affect the flow thru vent? JC

HD makes a windshield bag setup specifically for the 14 and later models.

Will that work on a 16 Street Glide CVO with the stock windshield?
The stock windshield is a wind splitter. The Dealer says some wind splitters the bag won't work but it doesn't list my windshield. Anyone try it yet?

Did you put any kind of paint protection film of anything on first? I'm worried about it rubbing on the paint.

No......but yes..it will probably leave a mark. I also move my XM antenna in between 2 of the pouches and used double sided tape to attach it to the inner fairing, so my pouches are never coming off anyway

:-[ Was at the dealer this weekend- "Nope, won't fit the 2016 SE Street Glide". Frustrating.

It will if you change the windshield.

I kept the 3 pouch set that was on my '09 Ultra and modified it to fit on my '14 Street Glide Special so it would not interfere with the air vent.

Here is  a pic where I cut out the middle pouch which I ended up mounting on the front down tubes of the frame.  There happens to be a ready made threaded hole just perfect to mount it there.

This setup allows you to mount the two outer pouchs as you would have done normally on prior models and not worry about which windshield you may have.  This way I have still retained the third pouch for storage purposes and also air flow is not effected. :cherry:

I think its the curve of the stock CVO Street Glide windshield that causes the issue since the 3 pouch setup does fit '14 and later

I'm somewhat confused as to any real problem here with fitting a 3 pouch bag................To avoid the air flow problem, ya gotta get what H.D. now offers or modify an old 3 pouch setup like mine to make it work.  My '09 Ultra was a CVO model,  my '14 StreetGlide Special is not................there is NO difference because of "CVO" ,  curve wise...........left to right.........maybe the CVO model has a different up/down curvature to the stock windscreen that makes the standard 3 pouch set up not work............otherwise,  I do not understand any real problems here. :-\

That's what I am saying....the stock CVO Streetglide windshield is curved in at the ends making the 3 pouch bag not fit. Once you change out the stock shield it fits with no issues. Here is a pic..

I don't think anyone is disagreeing the "bike" is the same -cvo/non-cvo. It's the windshield.  I like the Windsplitter Windshield, but I want a pouch that works with it. HD's website is conflicting.
Search under the pouches- it says it fits 16 cvo street glide. Search "for your bike"- it says it doesnt. That's why we are all irritated.

Since we're on the subject. It seems like you attach it in with the windshield. Has anyone installed it with a Freedom Shield?  They are thicker than the stock windshields.

I was just on Freedom's page - & wondering the same thing! Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure about the Freedom windshield but I changed out my OEM for an aftermarket and it was thicker - couldn't get the pouch to seat. I ground the tabs off of the metal frame and used a few tabs of velcro and it worked fine.

this is what I use cost $35 on Amazon they have two different  type  One gets bolt it on on  The other one uses Velcro straps   this is the one I used also had to adjust the straps a little with a zip tie no big deal works great  with the wet head   that way I don't need a windshield bag

Thx for the link. Ordered up a couple and they work great. The velcro straps are short, but they do reach each other around the back of the cover.
