accessory power connector.
« on: January 17, 2011, 03:15:22 PM »

The HD site says that on the 2011 cvo that there is a accessory power connector under the seat.

Does the 2010 model have one as well???

If not, what is the function of the pig tail on left side next to battery on the 2010?

If so, what are the contacts?

I need to tap into a keyed circuit to power a relay on direct connected lights.   suggestions?

Thanks for your reply,
ERIC

Oz, I purchased a new 2010 convertible and the only pigtail I recall being close to the battery on the left side was one that was grey and sort of a large affair.  I had to install the short pigtail that came with my battery tender junior myself.  Now on the 2011 convertible, that same short pigtail comes stock on the left side of the battery.  As I had installed my own on the right side of the '10, I switched the stock pigtail on the '11 to come off the right as well because my power cord comes off the  garage wall on the right.  In the brochure with the '11, I had interpreted (myself, of course) that "accessory power connector" would mean something you could use for hooking up your Gerbing heated clothing, or something like that.  Wasn't the case.  But still a useful and needed item, nonetheless.  Pork.

Thanks for the reply Porky:

That  large affair is what I am talking about...  Here is a link to the HD site that I was referring 2.   http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/cvo-softail-convertible.html#/features    look under technology then accessory connector.  The reason that I asked the question is the "large affair on the left side of battery"  looks a lot like the picture above.

This definitely is not a battery tender hook up, as I have put one of those on.    Looks to me like a modular multi-plug like you thought at first.   Check out the link above, maybe that will cause you to look again.

I am going to look at mine again tonight.  This must be answered before I can sleep.

Reason is that I would like to find a good keyed power source to use to power a relay.

WHAT PLUGS INTO THIS ON A 2010???????

Thanks a lot Fired00d for the picture.  I didn't know how to embed the photo.

Question re-done.

What can be plugged into the pigtail pictured above on the 2011 conv. ?

Does the 2010 have one of these?

Thanks Again.

Ok,  here is a picture of the plug I am referring to on my 2010.   The rubber end has been taken out and is laying beside plug.  It looks like it has only 2 connectors on the inside.

1st try at a picture... I attached.. I think.

What is this used for??

good job at your first attempt!  I believe I opened the plug once but don't know what it might be used for.  And even more not sure what the 6-prong plug might be used for in my '11 ........but I got one!!  Pork

It's hard to tell from the picture but if it is the one I am thinking of I use it to plug in the interface to the TTS for programming the ECM.
