A while back, Hoist started a thread regarding tatoo's. I finally got the SERK and my arm done in Myrtle Beach. For you young guys it is Elvis' logo.. Taking Care of Business in a Flash. That's kind of the way I live.
My wife thought it was the yogurt company.

Don't have any pic's of it done, but here's mine, just outline.
You find out the hard way that tattoos are like Lays potato chips, you can't just have one! The bad thing is the tattoo cost a little more than the chip. The wife goes Monday to continue on the sleeve, I'll keep posted.
My latest ink. Of course, there is always more to come!!!
Kewl! Now there's some serious ink! :o ;DYou got that right that it is. :2vrolijk_21: My Mom always told me I was hard headed, but I don't think I could take getting needles in my head. :nervous:

Nice one, Binx!! At least with the ladies, we get to see some nice smooth skin with pretty artwork, and not some hairy a$$ed back/chest with a beer belly attached... ;D ;)

Excellent tribute. So sorry you and Martha had to endure the loss.
I did one month after their death........It's in my heart and was very painful when was done......around 4 hours but nothing comparable with the pain that I have inside of me every second of my life......... :'(
Mi amigo Jorge,
A very loving tribute, and is very heartfelt. No words can adequately express what the art in your tattoo conveys.
Su amigo, Mike
I know mi amigo I know, I feel your pain and admire your love for life even after something like this happening in your life. Proud to be your friend. :2vrolijk_21:
Thanks mi amigo Mike.....see you soon....counting the days.....Mrs started packing :-\
Holy crap Scott! You've been holding out on us!!! ???
Beautiful work! :2vrolijk_21:

The coat of arms tat is about 6 years old...the Celtic tat is about 5 years old...
I have known the artist for years....he is in his 60's and has owned a tattoo shop for about 40 years. Real old school guy... 9 hours for the Coat of Arms tat in one sitting...16 hours for the Celtic tat in two sittings...thinking about another...
Scott
They were great Scott.......... :2vrolijk_21: see you soon mi amigo.........
Don't know if I commented earlier Jorge. I've seen yours in person, but for the record, awesome tribute to your lost loved ones! I know you'll never forget, but this keeps them even closer to you!

Sorry to hear that mi amigo......I also lost my daughter (21 years old) 4 years ago......who did that? It's so perfect. I have always wanted something like that but I haven't found a good pic tatoo artist.....
Jorge...I see your in the Miami area. I remember about a year ago watching an episode of "Miami Ink" and seeing one of the artist there (Cat or Kat...can't remember last name) doing some black ink work only for a customer who lost his little girl. She did her work from a photo the customer brought in and man I tell you what; it was on the money good! I don't know if Cat or Kat is still, there or not but if she is gone you might be able to run by there and get some info as to where or who you could go to. As I understand; many ink artists will gladly help you and steer you to the artist that is most capable of doing the work you desire. Can't hurt to stop by there and see what they got to say. Hope you find what your looking for and the very best to ya...Blaine
Wow,there is some unbelievable ink here! I had always been afraid to get a tat, but decided I really wanted one. Here is my first one.
HeHe! She's back in LA Blaine. LA Ink! ;)
Hoist! 8)
OK...I haven't really kept up since about a year ago but now that you mention it I remember now ; thanks for keeping me up to date :confused5: ;D Maybe Jorge could check them out anyway and get some help for a good artist though :2vrolijk_21:
My guy, Bret Zarro, does excellent portrait work too. I wish I had the photos the 2 pics of my 2 deceased dogs that these were tattoo'd from. But they match the pics perfectly! ;)
http://www.bretzarro.com/
Bret might be moving to Belgium though. :(

Amigo Howie.......I just checked his website and his work is great ....I think this is the excuse to visit you :huepfenjump3:

Anil is an awesome artist in Manhatten 5th St. lower east side.
I'm real pleased with the way it came out.
Thanks for the info mi amigo....
Howie - how is he price wise? I know you get what you par for - but - there are limits. I have a "dog" planned for the near future and capturing the" right look" is my goal.
I have someone nearby that does animal portraits, and the work I have seen looks as good as yours.
Just wondering if it is worth the trip into the city.
So from your house it is about 200 miles - sounds like a good road trip through the hills when Jorge comes up!.
Did Bret do your dogs? That will be my next, a photorealistic image. I want people to look at it and say "oh my, that is Lacey"
Yep he did! I used to own a second home 1/2 hour from there. We'd ride up and stay at the house, and run into Oneonta to get tattoo'd. Those were in the good ole days! Ex got the house and subsequently sold it. I can find us a decent place to stay up there if you guys are serious about it. He's usually backed up pretty good. So if you're both serious about going to see Bret, lemme know so I can try to setup appointments well in advance. I might do another. Binx wants another. So maybe I can book him for a weekend for all of us! ;)
Hoist! 8)
Duane, I've never used Anil at Inkline Studio. He's the guy in Manhgattan. My guy is Bret Zarro, and he's up in Oneonta, NY. Bret's much cheaper than anything you'll find in NYC! He's done all of my work. ;)
Hoist! 8)
Anil get's $300/hour a bit spendy, but the ends justify the means, me thinks.
I know he's several months out from consultation to doing the actual work, so if you're in a hurry may be an issue.
Jorge, he's right in Manhattan. There's your trip to NYC right there man! Get an appointment with him, You have a place here already! ;) :2vrolijk_21:
Hoist! 8)
Bret is at least 2/3 less expensive than this (no more than $100/hr). And if we take him for the weekend, I can prolly negotiate a package for everyone at flat rates. You should also get me whatever artwork you're considering using for your portraits so I can forweard it to him in advance. He needs to know what he'll be doing to properly schedule the time. Also, make sure you know you can do your piece in 1 sitting or you'd have to go back up to finish it after the first go-round heals! ;)

My second one
I like that one Janine. Nice idea! :2vrolijk_21:

I figured I'd revive this thread since I'm going tomorrow and start on my rib cage!:worthless: :2vrolijk_21:
Ouch, hard part done with, color in a few weeks.
I was in the chair just at 2 hours, he doesn't smoke or take breaks so he goes pretty fast. First tattoo I was ever nervous about, I was told the ribs are pretty tender and they're right. Go back the day after superbowl to start filling in.How you feeling. :nixweiss:
Ouch, hard part done with, color in a few weeks.
I'm thinking of joining the club and getting my first tattoo. If one is considering only one tattoo, this tattoo would be on the bicep area of my arm, are there any rules or lessons one should follow? I just don't want to make a mistake like "getting an earring in the wrong ear" kinda thing.
It really does have a story.
Here's my WIP (works in progress...) Prolly another 8 hours in the chair. Can't wait to be finished.
