Garmin Nuvi 665
« on: January 12, 2010, 09:23:47 PM »

Motorcycle GPS just like the Nuvi 660 offered by HD but with XM Radio and XM Weather $999.  Seems to have all the features of the 550 and 660.  Looks like the 660

I just don't get it.  With the price of these units dropping so quickly and the feature list growing immensely, why is the motorcycle version so expensive.  $999 MSRP. . . .   They must know we're addicted to spending at almost any cost.  Just think if they had a chrome model!  :2vrolijk_21:

Supply and Demand.  It is (sadly) the least expensive solution I can find to have a fairing mounted gps and xm radio
on my CVO Streetglide.  Just adding the 2 modules for the Advanced Audio System would cost close to double that...and you wouldn't have a mapping gps.  I also like the Real Time Weather Map feature.  I have that on my boat.  It shows you visually where the weather is in relation to your route...with a monthly subscription charge of course.

The 665 is cheaper when you compare full functions of the 550 to the 665
I am talking list prices here so DO not beat me up on "you can get it cheaper at so and so"
Base 550                                          MSRP 899.99
GMX30 Antenna for XM & Traffic            MSRP 249.99

      Total                                          MSRP 1149.98

New 665  Included antenna for XM& Traffic   MSRP 999.99

IF you are a AMA Member can get it for 892.49 direct from Garmin

Of course it will get cheaper the longer it is out there
