Removeable use the lighter plug.  Permanently wired inside the fairing use the lighter plug again; just use the pigtail on the backside.

A T-27 Torx Driver would be needed.

As another option, tie-wrapped to the Headlight Wiring Harnes will be an unused pair of wires (+, -) with spade Connector receptacles.  These wires I have been told were for the fender tip light.  They are switched with the ignition.  Just add spade connectors to the Zumo power cable and plug it in.

This is what I did.

No matter what you take power from the outer fairing will have to come off.  And removing it is an easy chore.

Three screws at the windshield.  Two more in the middle coming through from the inner and screwing in to the outer.  Two more down low and both sides of the triple tree.

Put a towel or some other protective cover on the front fender.  Put a sock over each of the spotlights (just makes it all slide easier.  Be prepared for the windshield to pop loose as you tug the fairing foward.  When the fairing tugs foward you'll need to reach in and unplug the headlights from the inside.

It sounds like a lot.  But it's not.  After you've done it the first time it's a ten minute task.  Once it's been on and off as many times as it has the red bike you'll have it off in four minutes or less (won a beer on that one Saturday).

Hi Don, I just got a Road Tech yesterday(so be prepared for a chitload of questions on other stuff) and whilst I agree they are the easiest 2 places to get a power feed from, wont it be a pain in the ass if the in line fuse pops whilst out on the road :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

Put the in-line fuse down by the fork tube just below the lower inner cap, where that pesky lower left torx is for the outer fairing, that way you can change the fuse w/o pullin the fairing.

Jeez, why did'nt I think of that, sometimes you cant see the wood for the tree's, anycase, I thought Don would have had a plan for that eventuality, I think he loaded the gun, waiting for a dumbass like me to fire it, oh well thanks for the idea, I dont have to take the tank off now ;D

I had to replace my headlight lens due to a flying rock cracking the lens.

I found those unused wires when I pulled the headlamp lens, so you don't necessarily have to remove the fairing, you can go thorugh the headlamp?

I made a mental note of this to re wire during some winter down time.  Any one know off hand, what wire/color is the pos and neg?

Use the fender tip light plug it's not used on the CVO but is there.  Go to the dealer and get the female end for the plug along with the ends and you are good to go.

I just put a radio shack plug on the end of the garmin wire and plug it into the cig plug on the fairing.
It has a led to confirm there is power and a removable fuse.

Steve

I swung by the store on the way home.  I think it was 270-1509 for $5.99  That was a Radio Shack item.  There was also 270-028 $6.59 that was an Enercell branded item.
I put both numbers in on their web site and they both come back with newer numbers.  Even the $5.99 now comes back as Enercell at a higher price.

Just make sure it has the led (for proof of power).
I also put a small piece of rubberized tape over the end of the connection(where the wires enter the housing) to help keep water out of it.

Hope that helps.
Steve
