I need to make a public apology to D&D Exhaust here and retract most of what I said. I just loosened the heat shields and they moved right into place. I probably deserve the jacka$$ of the year award. I relied on my dealer to install my exhaust correctly. I found that 2 of the clamps weren't even tightened. I'm surprised that I didn't have any rattles. I am feeling like a real idiot right now. It took me all of 10 minutes or less to put the shields in place. They are about as close to perfect as I could ever expect out of something like this.
I will call them in the morning to apologize to them directly. I'm still not pleased about never receiving my Ghost pipe from them, however I also appreciate the fact that they didn't send one that wasn't correct. I am going to reorder the Ghost pipe again, for two reasons. First, I really want it but more importantly now, I feel like such a chithead, and I'd feel worse if I didn't buy something else from them to try to make amends.
If anyone wants to take a stab at me for this, now's is the time to hit me when I deserve it most. I'm ready to take my lashings like a man.

Since this is the computer/internet age everyone expects perfection.
Click a button or key and the world is right.
In the real world it doesn't happen that way.
I have had nothing but success with ALL of the D&D products I have owned.
Maybe my standards may not be as high as yours.
I will buy your D&D 2 into 1 if you want to get ride of it.
At a reasonable price for a used pipe.
Or maybe even trade even a complete stock system for your pipe and I will pay the shipping.
Let me know!

I'm still trying to get back the money that was paid for Ghost Pipes that they can't deliver. I'm sure not going back to a stock system...if I liked that, I would have kept mine in the first place. I can't afford to just dump this system off for a big loss and go out and buy another system. I don't have unlimited funds to play with. When I get a chance to do so, I'm going to take another stab at trying to get this pipe to fit together properly and if I can't, then I'll post a photo to see if anyone else has suggestions on a way to force it to fit. For now, I'm stuck with what I have and if I can't get it to fit properly, then it's time to press them to take it back for a refund.

Same here. Have come to love the products and my customer support experience with them the one time such a thing was required was proactive on their part and exemplary. Odd it could change so drastically in just a few months.

Trying to "force it to fit" is a very bad idea. Exhaust systems should not be mounted under stress, and doing so will surely lead to noise, vibration, and perhaps breakage issues. Contact them and insist they replace the pipe with one that fits.

Contact RB Racing, they have a website, www.rbracing.com, check out their Blackhole system/ Pro Stock Spyder system. His site says that his '09 touring pipes are ready
for sale now. Get your money back on that D&D, and get you a RB Racing system. In my opinion, ALOT better looking exhaust system, and probably better performance.
This is the exhaust that I'm fixing to go with. Bye, Bye Rineharts, hello RB Racing Blackhole system..Contact them, talk to Lynn, she is very nice and helpful.. Good Luck!!
If you like 2 into 1, you should like their products...Check it out...

Good luck with the RB Racing Blackhole. It is a very quiet pipe but you will likely encounter difficulties trying to find a anyone who can optimize a tune for it. It will run fine with a canned map, but just be aware you will be leaving a lot of performance on the table as a tradeoff for the quiet. Check the V-Twin forum for more details. Additionally, unless things have changed it will also be delivered without installation instructions and calls for assistance seem to be a form of amusement to the RB Racing staff. :huepfenlol2:

We use D&D and find them easy to work with. Did you but the pipe directly from D&D? Did you go through a dealer? I know the chromer that D&D uses had their tanks contaminated, so they have a lot of hoops to jump through to get back on line.
We like D&D.
-
I tried everything and they will not go together properly. There is a substantial difference on the upper and lower heat shield sections...the upper would almost go over the muffler if they could be pushed together and the lower would almost go inside if they could be pushed together. Just like stocks, past performance is not indicative of future results. They have some real quality control issues right now. I may only be with the new 09's, the nonetheless, it's a problem. That's the exhaust. As far as the Ghost Pipe goes, they told me straight out when I called that they are having multiple issues and don't have the Ghost Pipes available yet.

Another pic

I'm sorry, I know that D&D is having trouble with the chromer right now. I asked whether you went straight to D&D for the purchase of the ghost pipe to assertain who is beholding to you for the refund. If you went through a dealer(that would be my guess) then they would be the ones taken to task over the delay of your refund money.
-
I just spoke with D&D and sent them the photos and they are going to see if they can help me out with my problem. They explained the situation regarding a problem with their chromer having contaminated tanks and that's obviously hurting them as well as me. They were very nice in dealing with me and I hope to have this resolved. Had someone sent me through to speak to someone higher up this morning, rather than just saying "I'm sorry you are having a problem", I wouldn't have been going through all of this posting. I guess it's my fault too for accepting that response and not asking to speak with someone else like I did on this call.

Actually, it was Eric from hdpipes.com and I have no doubts that he will take care of getting my refund to me promptly.

I am glad that you are getting treated well and getting your problems resolved. That is always a very good thing. Good luck. If you can getthe aesthetic resolved, I am sure you will be happy with the performance. Good for you.

I messed up and order the wrong pipes from Eric for my lady's Nightster. No problems with the return at all. Glad to hear D&D is coming through also.

So I guess when a newbie reads YOUR ABOVE post they will have negative thoughts about buying a D&D Fatcat.
Geeeeeezzzzzzz, lets just bash someone or some company and then leave it for all to read even if they are trying to resolve the issue.
Heck, even copy the same post and post it on other sites.

Did this problem happen today?
I don't think so.
But it's a lot easier to whine post about a problem than actually taking the time to get it fixed.
D&D is a good company that makes a good product.
I have yet to find any company that makes their product perfect.
I may strive for perfection but satisfaction is my ultimate goal.
My D&D's may not be perfect but for the satisfaction they give, I'm happy!
Hope it all works out for you.
I'm sure we will hear it if it doesn't!

My Factat w/ghost pipe came in Monday for my '09 flhx. I didn't install yet, but did look at the fitment and even assembled the pipes to ensure a regular fit. So far so good...
I am expecting 10,000 HP with these so anything less will just not do... ::)

You may not get 10,000 horsies out of it, but I think you'll like the performance. They think it may be a problem with the heat shield on mine. After looking at it again, I tend to agree. It appears that the shield may be twisted a bit, so I may very well have received an isolated problem part.

Eric at hdpipes.com already took care of crediting my card, so he didn't waste any time in resolving his end of things.

Glad it worked out and sometimes it's the simplest of chit. :-\ Guess the lesson is to check around here before bichn as many have been there done that. Junior and I fought like hell over the weekend installing a headlight trim ring on his RK. S O B wouldn't go on right. Biched to the and everything. Two days later we put it on w/o a problem in 5 minutes and it looks great. Who woulda thunk?!

Great to read that you got your problems resolved. And good on ya for retracting your earlier frustrations. We're all human, but it takes someone with integrity to admit it.
Again, GOOD FOR YOU!

Thanks guys. I won't be surprised if someone shows up at York with a specially made "DUNCE" cover for my helmet.

I am glad it all worked out.
My recent experience with them has been that they are great to deal with.
Their fit and finish has been second to none, so I was surprised that you had a problem.
in the end No Harm no foul.
you did the right thing, many would not admit their mistake.
Happy riding, maybe see you out on the road
(if I ever get my bike back)

They were very nice about it when I called back this morning and told him that I was a jacka$$. He was happy to hear that there were no problems and he appreciated that I called to let him know that I was wrong. We chit chatted for 10 or 15 minutes and all is well.

Admitting that your aren't a perfect person only makes you a better person. Good on ya! Glad everything worked out.

For the FLHTCUSE4, is it the 502-32B or the 549-32B? Web site makes it look like 549-32B but dealer installed 502-32B on mine - only visual difference is muffler length
-
549-32B is the correct one.

I finally received my D&D FatCat Ghost Pipe. It was a long wait, but I sure do like the looks of having mufflers on each side again.

I saw golf bag mounts for bikes. I've toyed with that idea, but I don't think I'll ever do it. Every once in a while, I can get out for an early 18 holes and still have the afternoon left for riding..."not that there's anything wrong with that."

Of course, just joshing with you...
I live on a golf course and haven't golfed in about 8 years... I have a cabin on a lake and don't fish... But I ride at every opportunity!!! :2vrolijk_21:

Good thing you don't own a Harley dealership...you'd probably stop riding.
