after installing a new compensator sprocket , it's knocking again after 1 k miles WTF :nixweiss:

More info, you said sprocket,..? did you replace the complete assembly?

Often when that happens it's due to the compensator bolt not being tight. By not being tight, I mean it may be torqued to spec but it's not fully seated and applying the proper clamping force to the parts. That can easily occur if there was any old thread locker material left in the internal threads of the crankshaft, which would cause the torque reading to reach spec before attaining the proper clamp load on the parts. Another possibility one of our members ran into recently involved having the wrong slider cam (older thinner version that used washers) in the new compensator kit.

Mine is knocking also and has been since doing the motor build. Finally got around to taking it apart last week thinking I just didn't clean the threads good enough. Put it back together with all as clean as if brand new parts and still knocking. So now no real determination as to why it all of a sudden started knocking after the motor build. I inspected every piece and see nothing that should be causing this. Ramps and rods have almost no sign of wear.

mine only started raising hell, after big power increase, gonna end with a solid sprocket , if i can't tame it down :nixweiss:

Maybe the compression and pulsing of the motor is causing it? Don’t believe this design was meant for the big power. The compensators wear out on stock 110s making a little over half your power.

Baker makes a compensation sprocket set up that is copied from the old EVO style. My FXR4 S&S V111 with 96k miles no problems. My 98 Road King with S&S V124 has same type OEM works fine too. New and improved isn't always better!

I am using the Evolution Technologies 34 tooth solid sprocket on my 2015 SESG that has a S&S 124 ci high compression motor. It works great. Quieter than old compensator. I had read/heard that direct drive would make bike jumpier, more vibration at different speeds etc. I haven’t found any problems with mine so far. I probably have 1200 to 1500 miles on the solid sprocket.

Dealer installed EVo Ind. in my bike back in 08 when the original went bad. My experience was great around town but above 50 caused vibrations and 6th gear was awful. The vibs instantly put my arms to sleep. Took it back and installed the first revision HD model and its still in there. Maybe the higher gearing of the 07 was part of it, I don't know. All with 131 engine. Glad to hear others have had better results.
