Title: Screamin' Eagle WG?
Post by: GrayRider on November 18, 2004, 04:10:56 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen and heard guys refer to FXDWG2's and FXDWG3's as Screamin' Eagle Wide Glides. I don't think that is accurate. A "Screamin' Eagle" bike refers to performance mods. The Glides are CVO bikes but not Screamin' Eagle's. Am I right?

GrayRider, Screamin' Eagle has become synonymous with CVO, but you're correct, the Wide Glides are more appropriately referred to as "CVOs."

I bought my WG3 new, and nothing in the manual or on the bike itself says, "Screamin' Eagle" except the stuff I've added. I was always under the impression that SE was the trade word for H-D performance products, and as you said, the WG's have stock motors.

Nidan, I guess you're saying you already have the parts and want them powdercoated to match?  Otherwise, you're aware you can buy the jugs and heads already in the silver finish from H-D, right?

I haven't picked up the heads and BB cylinders , and yes I know they have the silver or black finish .

Strange thread. Started 4 years ago and resurrected for unknown reasons. The original post was accurate though. FXDWG2's and 3's weren't originally Screamin' Eagles but were called Switchblades. Near as I can find, it's something the CVO crew tagged them with.

I am fortunate enough to have a FXDWG2 Switchblade Screamin' Eagle as the first owner did the 88 - 95 SE upgrade so the heads are marked. Gotta be one of the few although there is a rather radical FXDWG2 with a magna super charger selling on e-bay here:

Love the bike in any form!
