Title: Leather Up: opinions please
Post by: j f go on December 16, 2013, 09:58:47 PM
Looking to buy my wife a new pair of riding boots from these folks and was wondering if any of you had any experience with them, either good or bad. Thanks guys, gals, in advance for any help. Please feel free to point me in another direction if necessary. Happy Holidays to all from our family to yours.

I just bought a vest from Leather Up. In fact, it just arrived a couple of hours ago. I had read good reviews on them; stuff like "great quality" and "shipped right away". My experience validated what I read. Looking at the packing slip, it's evident they have layers of QA before something is shipped. The price was great; the quality was great; and the service was great. Good luck!
One thing I would suggest is reading the reviews of what you're ordering. Several folks recommended I order a size or two larger than I thought I needed because this specific item ran small. I called the company to verify (also suggested by a reviewer), and ordered according to their advice. The fit was spot-on.  :2vrolijk_21:

I have purchased several items from them and x2 Broadarrow's comment. Quality is great, fast delivery, and they are always having sales which at times will include free shipping. Some of their items do run smaller in size (I guess in the country of origin <Pakistan> individuals aren't as large as other places :nixweiss:).

Not the highest quality stuff, but hard to beat for the price.

If anyone is looking for some of the best try Langlitz Leathers in Portland Oregon. Expensive but you will never buy another unless you outgrow then they can alter for you. And spend the extra fifty bucks and get the goatskin. Soft from the beginning and tougher than cowhide. I have had mine for almost fifteen years and still look new.

Amen to that Terry!

The only reason I went with Bates Leathers is that they are closer to me which made it easier to get measured and fitted. But Langlitz is top notch all the way. Yes it's expensive to have leathers tailor made, but if you think of it as a lifetime investment it's well worth it. I've had mine since 1991.

Langlitz is a small shop and they only make nine garments a day all done in a tiny shop that doesn't want to get any bigger. I waited for many years to get mine as it was a two year wait for several years. All the Portland Police wear Langlitz leathers that tells you something. The belt alone was like $65 but you will never find one as well made and thick.
