Looking for a good internal AM-FM antenna that will fit inside my fairing or tour-pak. Any recommendations?

Jerry a bunch of people have used Tune Trapper. They're available on ebay.

Jerry, if memory serves me (which is less and less), Don has some such device in his SEEG and might be a good source of information.

For the hidden antenna's the Tune trapper is the best. PM me is intersted

That's what I've had in the red bike since it was only a night or two old. Had used them previously in street rod projects hidden in headliners or other out of the way places.

It works fine. Certainly good enough for my needs on the bike. They're inexpensive and flexible to install. If Jim's got them that makes it even easier.

Thanks guys. Hate to say it 'cause I love the J&M shorty antennas but the FM reception sucks. How about others that have the J&M shortys - any problems with FM reception?

I'm pretty happy with FM with the shortys. I haven't benchmarked the long whips against the shortys, but this past weekend we were getting Jacksonville stations almost all the way to Daytona.

Maybe you could use a simple signal booster under the fairing?

I use the JM shortys and have had ok FM reception.

Bought a powered fairing antenna (for use when the tour pak is off) that looks like this:

Piece of junk - did not work - removed it - in box of junk I bought that I should not have bought.

Normally, when the TP is off, I just listen to XM. I would like to find an alternative. I'm thinking this won't be it.

How is reception compared to shortys and can you use a "Y" harness and use both the shortys AND the TT when the TP is on?

Is there any option to place a jack etc. so you can plug earpods in a listen to the CD. Can you convert the Aux input to output?

I would think the best option for that would be a converter from the DIN plug on the console to a sub-mini for a pair of buds.

Possible, definitely. Available, probably not, but not too hard to wire one up. The pin-out is easy enough to determine and it's only three wires that would need to be soldered.

We just had this coversation in another thread. J&M was supposed to have one available & I contacted John @ J&M. He sent me a link but it was for the 5 pin not the 7 that we need. Apparently not available yet from J&M.

Tell them to get on it. It would be great for solo riding with a pair of custom molded ear buds.

Hd now sells a short AM-FM antenna. 29.00 and it works really well. And it looks good also. I'm not a big fan of any type of hidden antennas. when I want regular radio, I don't want static. I'll recommend this one for sure. . .
