Electrical connector 72434-00 removal
« on: August 05, 2008, 07:31:05 PM »

I have been trying to remove the electrical connector 72434-00, which is the connector used for the small fuses in the fuse panel.

I have tried everything, less breaking the connector, to remove the connector from the panel

Is there a place where i can find the correct way to remove it

Brian, they're not like the snap in terminals in the other connectors scattered around the bike.  Check the fuse block's reverse side.  You'll see some little orange (at least they're orange on all I've ever looked at) plastic pieces at one end.

Once you find them you'll see how they release at one end.  Then they slide out of the fuse panel to release the terminals.  If it doesn't seem obvious when you look give me a call after bit.  I'll pull one of mine off real quick so we can each have one in hand at the the same time to walk through it.

Ok, give me a few minutes.  I'll pull off a bag and a side cover and try to get a picture that shows the locks.

If it's something much older than the SEEGs they'll be snap fit like other connectors.  If you're working on the SEEGs you should see some thing like this.

On the back side (alternating sides actually) push up on the little orange dits that protrude.  That will allow removal of the entire locking bar.  You can see one of the orange dits adjacent to my thumb here.

Once the locks are released on the ends the locks bars come up out of the fuse panel.  Once they're out the terminal release out the back easily.

Which bike you working on?  Take a picture to show what you've got.

I don't remember which year they changed the style of fuse panel.  Was thinking it went to a box like this 2003.  But I'm in too few other people's fuse panels to trust that as fact.  Merely a recollection of something I never paid too much attention to to begin with.

Figured it out :pineapple: :pepper:   :2vrolijk_21:

I have the old fuse block....imagine that...

You have to use 2 pics to remove the connector....

If you look at the connector in the panel, a mini fuse tabs are horizontal...the pics are used at the top and bottom of the connector...from the front and the connector pulls out from the rear
