No offense intended.  Just trying to give you an explaination.  As for the burn mark, I actually have that unit and tested it here.  The eclipse module(what makes it run 100% then off) failed.  No big deal.  They are warrantied for as long as you own the bike.

As for the burn mark, I actually have that unit and tested it here. 

In case you didn't receive the description when I returned it, that particular unit started to flicker before burning off the pigtail. Kind of like a quick blink.

This housing is the left directional, that had the burned LED



This picture shows the left side (after replacing the burnt LED) with normal brightness and the right side being dim.



The results were the same when reversing the the units; the same LED had the same brightness regardless of the housing.

Get ahold of Hog City and have them replace that uniit.  Like I said, its warrantied.  I want to test that one!

LEDs draw less current which in turn causes much less heat.  This might not be good as far as moisture.  Condensation does occur even in what looks like a sealed environment due to temperature changes.  Having incandesent bulbs, the heat actually dries out the lamp compartment.  LEDs will not do this.  Just a thought.

Yeah, maybe so, but LED's are not something new either.

We did a conversion for a couple at Spring Myrtle.  The wife had a 06 Deluxe.  When we removed the front right lens, the water ran out like a waterfall.  SO I guess that blows that theory.  We see a ton of the newer Harley's trap water in the front housings and actually short out the front signals.
