09 SERG and Garmin 660
« on: May 18, 2010, 10:16:58 AM »

Hey guys I have a 09 SERG and hard wired the 660 to the handle bars. How do I now get the garmin to play thru the radio speakers? I can't hear it going down the road. Will it fade in and out over the radio or whatever else is playing?

Many options exist
The easiest would be to connect your Garmin earphone jack to the aux in on the face of your factory radio.  You can listen to voice prompts and garmin based mp3s but not your factory radio or other options you may have purchased.

J&M and Kennedy tech each make a unit that wires your garmin into a different circuit within the factory radio so you can listen to the factory radio and still get voice prompts from the garmin (but not through the speakers. headset only)

Ok I thought there might be a way to make it work in the radio speakers?

The first option would provide sound out of the radio speakers

when you hardwired you power cable, what did you do with the audio and mic cables?
If they are unplugged , I don't understand why the headphone jack plugged into the aux in won't provide gps sounds through your speakers.  Even if they are plugged in, it should still work.
Others more knowledgeable may be able to jump in and help.  maybe a call to garmin

If you have attached a stereo patch cord to the Audio out on the GPS mount and have it running to the Aux port on your radio you should be able to hear sounds thru the speakers on your radio....

Have you put your radio in the "Aux" position?
