Today is the 25th birthday of our Memphis H.O.G. Chapter. One of the early ones and going strong thanks to a great dealer sponsor, Bumpus H-D.
My wife is the director of the Chapter this year and wanted to do something extra special to celebrate this milestone. The L.O.H. had talked about doing a t-shirt quilt and then another member mentioned seeing a 'traveling chapter flag' during a trip. This chapter had members take their flag on trips and get chapter rockers from the various dealers they visited to sew on the flag. So the idea was born to incorporate chapter rockers into the t-shirt quilt to represent just some of the places members have visited.
She spent most of last year getting the rockers - from members who traveled and brought them back, from emails to chapter directors and dealers asking (and sometimes begging) for them (thanks keithincda). There are over 90 rockers (and several dealer patches) representing all 50 states, 2 Canadian provinces and even Northern Ireland. The quilt is 8' wide and 11' long. Today we unveiled it at the dealership where it will hang on display. If you are in Memphis be sure to stop by and see it. And don't forget to sign our guest book.
