06 SW Trip  9 Days 3017 miles
« on: November 10, 2006, 09:08:22 PM »

Four of us from Massachusetts set out to meet 3 friends from Nebraska to journey on an 8 state 3000 mile trip.
It was the best vacation my wife and I have ever been on.

Joal, Patty and I, and  flew out on a Thursday we arrived at Frontier HD at around 5:00 PM (Luggage Arrived just before closing 6:55PM) we met Wayne AKA Doc, The Ayatollah of Rock & Rolla, and our RC for the trip. We got moving at about 7:15 PM (some 3 hours later than was scheduled) we picked up Billy some 90 Miles outside  of Lincoln and we were headed for McPherson, KS but the best we could do was Saline, KS.
Day 2 - was the day of all days 600+ miles. We left Saline and traveled to McPherson turned right onto rte 61 then to  rte 54 we headed straight through the Oklahoma pan handle, Texas and right into Tucumcari, NM. We fueled up for about the 4th time of the day and figured we had another 100+ in us so we moved on to Las Vegas, NM. The ride from Tucumcari to Las Vegas was incredible Rte 104 simply awesome and it got better from there.

Mac,
Welcome to the site. Nice ride you and your friends took. Gotta say your view of Tucumcari was a hell of a lot better than mine was when I was there a month ago. It poured the whole time.

Lecion Primara) Do not leave your seat uncovered overnight in the rain.

Gotta love Belmont AZ huh ? Nice folks up there. Wife thinks I'm nuts, but I've considered retiring in that area.

Thanks for sharing the pics with us. We'll look forward to seeing more of your adventures in the future.

Adios,
          Big B
