Put deposit on 2022 inbound FLTRXSE (due in within 2 weeks)
« on: February 23, 2022, 07:41:27 AM »

So, I'm about to say goodbye to my 2015 CVO Road Glide Ultra. I saw the new road glide in Blue Steel and found myself salivating. So here's where I take a good thing and make it complicated. I originally put a deposit on a CVO road glide Limited. Since I have the 15 I've come to like the convenience of electric locks on the bags and fork, heated grips, and many other conveniences. I have looked everywhere for the equipment on the new bike, Harley doesn't seem to list it anywhere. I can't find a listing of what comes with the new bike. Does anyone know where I can find a defined list of what is available on the bike and is not. I am debating switching the deposit back to the limited as I've gotten spoiled with the 15.

Take a look at Matt Laidlaw’s Harley review of the 2022 CVO Road Glide Custom on YouTube. It’s 19 minutes long and talks about the differences in the custom verses Limited and their strengths and primary rider targets for both.
Bottom line: the Limited is for cross country touring because of the extra stuff you are looking for and the custom is for boulevard cruising and day trips less than 200 miles. He mentions the difference in front wheel sizes and their affect on handling.

I have the '22 CVO Road Glide. It comes with power locks and heated grips.
I did Not get a tool kit with mine. Still trying to figure out if thats a mistake
or if Harley got even cheaper this year. Maybe someone else with a '22 can tell me.

2022 CVO RG - power locks on the saddle bags, nice stage 2 audio (Limited gets stage 1). Removable saddlebag travel luggage, wireless headset, 2 key fobs, cover, no tool kit. It does come with heated grips.

FYI does not come with a rain sock for the air cleaner. Dealer said you do not need one but I ordered on as I normally put them on if I’m riding in the rain or washing my bike.

I have an IBA Saddle sore 1000 miles in 24 hours and IBA Bun Burner 1500 in 36 hours on my 18 CVO Road Glide.  My 19 CVO Road Glide has I did 1000 miles in 14 and a half hours, and 1500 miles in 31 hours 14 minutes.  I had 48000 miles on it in 2 years, 29,100 in 2020 alone.

I think It makes a fine touring bike.  I have been touring on CVO road glides since 2009, did have a CVO Road glide Ultra for 2 years and 44K miles.
My wife has also been touring one Road Glide Specials since 2015.

I think its more about what you want, and the look you want.

Yes, I too had a 2012 Skunk (loved it), traded it in and bought an EBR (mistake). I am ordering King Tour Pak, detachable of course, and lowers/crash bar. I think I am going to have to get the lowers painted in Sicklersville as I don’t see them in the catalog.
Trying my best not to make it an Ultra

Congrats on you new bike. In my opinion you will benefit from no radiators to maintain as well by going Custom vs. the Ultra's. When you order matching floorboards for Mama you can then move the passenger pegs up front as your highway pegs.
Did you know that you have one of THE best painters right in your own back yard? A lot of us have used Joe http://www.xtremedimension.com/ he does an amazing job matching our CVO paint.

Yes! ExtremeDimension painted the tourpak light bar on my 2015. I really like Joe’s work. I guess I will be heading down, to Joe’s, with lowers in prime.

Regarding Matt Laidlaw’s video which was very good and I do respect him a lot, he’ trying to point out an issue many of his customers face.
They often buy the wrong bike for the job. He’s said on many videos that to buy a limited is much less expensive than to build one. Also, the suspension will be more comfortable for two up on a long ride, I’m sure there are a couple more like the lower fairing as well. With that being said, I’m a CVO RG owner that puts a fair amount of miles on each year and never rides two up. I am completely happy with the bike especially when it has the right look and function to ride locally or across country. Look at the 2LaneLife guys they ride RG’s all over the country similar to Dave. I think these guys actually do it for a living at this point.
