HD Auxiliary lighting on 2021 CVO Road Glide
« on: March 04, 2022, 04:19:05 PM »

After waiting 6 months for my backordered HD LED Auxiliary fog/driving lights, they finally arrived this week.

I didn't waste any time installing them.
The lights put out individual nicely defined fog and driving patterns.  Or both beams can be turned on to provide added distance and side lighting.

I've mounted and aimed the lights, but haven't ridden with them yet so I don't yet have any performance data.  But just based on beam patterns on the wall, compared to the 2021 Road Glide's high and low beam, they should be a nice improvement for night lighting.

Attached are pictures of the installed lights.  I used the HD brackets but reversed them to pull the lights back into the crash bar.  The directions show installing the lights more forward, but they seem exposed and gawky using the HD instructions. I like pulling them back but it did make it much more time consuming to get good aim while ensuring clearance to the front fender.

Also, I did not use the provided switch module.  I didnt want to add external wiring and switches to my handlebar.  Instead I put accessory switches in the left fairing position, and repinned the outputs to operate these lights.

Cheers,

These are just the new HD Daymaker LED Forward Auxiliary Lights, 94100078. They are on the HD site.  The lights come as a pair, and do require  the purchase of a separate install kit that has brackets and wiring.  If you use the wring harness as is, it plugs in to the P&A accessory connector on the right side of the bike, and has its own switch module that attaches to the left handlebar controls.  I chose to lose the add-on switch, and install light switches in the dash.

The driving and fog beams look bright and defined.  Pictures of beams don't show much, but they rival the high beams with a nice flat cutoff line to project the light forward and a wide beam to pick up the sides of the road and help  when cornering.

Thanks for sharing the details! I looked on the H-D site and came up empty. I’ll try again.

Ok they are for the Pan America. The site keeps my bike stored so it didn’t come up. The mounts worked fine on the chopped engine guard?

The are for the Pan America and the touring bikes.  Instructions with the lights tell you how for both bikes.

I have them on my PA, very nice lights

Thanks a lot Dave! Probably what I will go with. Wasn’t happy with the driving lights I had on the RG fairing.

Roger that.

There are separate install kits for PA and Touring.

When I ordered them last August the HD site showed them for both the PA and touring and brought them up as the recommended option for my 2021 CVO RG.  Now they do not come up in a search for my CVO.  They will fit, but are are a little awkward to mount on the RG crash bar and maybe HD is relooking at the install kit for Touring....

Cheers,

What switch did you use, the #71400032 or the #71400129, as I am having problems getting my Clearwater's to come on and just posted a question for help. Thanks

69200173 is the left side dash panel swich holder.

I used a pair of 71400044 light switches in the dash panel, and repinned the bike's left side switch panel wiring connector to run straight to the fog/driving light harness to control the lights.

ok, here is the switch assembly I bought and installed in my left side of my dash and it plugs into the harness already behind the gauges, powers up when I clik it on.

What is different about your switch?

Repinned - what exactly do you mean?

another view pf 71400032

Near as I can tell, the 69200173 that I used is just the base.  The 71400032 looks like a "kit" that has the base and one light switch already included/inserted.  So either works as a base.  I had two light switches so i just bought the base.  My switches look different in how the light marking is  printed and they have a green LED bar as a powered on indicator.

The bike harness for the dash is prewired into specific circuits.  I pulled the pins in the harness connector,  and inserted new pins with wires connected directly to the fog/driving lights,  so when the light buttons are pressed they directly power the lights.

OK, well that's beyond my knowledge, but thanks.
