Shrill noise at 60 mph
« on: April 23, 2022, 04:12:05 PM »

I have I high pitch shrill noise coming from the front end on my 19 mako. I have replaced brakes (needed bad) and checked everything I could see. Had the fairing off 3 times. Any ideas.?  Kind of annoying.   Thanks. Stuart

Is there a certain speed that you hear the noise? My 15 Road Glide made a truly annoying sound at speed. It drove me crazy until I found it. The noise was a high pitched sound above 30-35 mph. The noise was wind around the headlamp and front fairing. If you look closely you’ll see a little gap between the headlamp and the front fairing. I put a small 1/8 inch rubber vacuum hose tucked in that small gap. When tucked in you couldn’t see it and it stayed in place due to the tension in that small gap along the bottom edge. If this is your noise I hope this cures it.

Comes at 60mph.  Slow down it stops.  I'll check around the headlight.

Thank you fot suggesting l look around the bottom of the headlight. That was it. I found some auto/marine rubber sealant. That took care of it and you can barely see anything. I tried to include a Picture. Stuart.
