Anotner 110 rear head oil leak
« on: April 28, 2007, 03:41:14 PM »

While at the AMA Superbike races in Alabama last weekend one of the members from this site noticed that my bike was leaking oil.  The leak appears to be coming from the head gasket on the rear cylinder.  Not a bad leak, only a few drops.  It didn't seem to get much worse on the 300 mile ride home.  More oil had dripped down on the transmission cover and some had blown back on the rear pipe and left electrical panel cover.

The bike is at the dealer, torn down, waiting on a head gasket.

From what I've read on this site, mines not the first.  Seems that most of the leaks start at 4K plus miles (mine has 7K) as a very small leak.  If you want to take a look at your 110.  Look closely at the top fin of the rear cylinder right below where the pipe bolts to the head.

April has not been a good month for me!  First, while on our Key West trip I drop my camera at 60mph,  then my Garmin locks up (same KW trip), while on the KW trip my youngest son calls to tell us that he wrecked his Moms car (minor, no injuries), now an oil leak!  I'm glad this month is almost over!

Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out shouting Holy Chit......... What a Ride!
