Ness Big Sucker

I rode about 270 miles today and the first half was all interstate at 70 MPH. The last half was two-lane at 60 mph. When I got home and started cleaning up, I noticed a pool of oil under the air cleaner. I didn't think that the Ness set-up was supposed to allow that. My 01 Road King with the screamin eagle set-up would do it occasionally when on the interstate. I just thought that the Ness set-up had been engineered to prevent this situation. Was I wrong in thinking this ? My oil level still checks OK, so it wasn't a lot.

maybe you oiled the filter too much? the ness vents almost directly into the throttle body and unlike some of the s/e shouldnt drip. id clean it up and try again [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]

Called the dealer that installed the set-up and the shop guy says that they all do it. He asked what my engine oil level was and I told him that it was about 3/4 in the range and he told me that was my problem, he says it should only be 1/2 in the range. He also said that the harder you ride the more apt it is to happen. My bike was never over 3500 RPM the whole day. He said that I need to clean the filter and use K&N oil to re-oil the filter. I have Air-Raid cleaner and re-oil kit here that I use in my truck, would it be OK to use it ? Do you guys use blue lock-tite on any of the fasteners when putting the filter back on ?

I did over 1000 miles in two days just after installing the '06 version of the big sucker...no oil blow by at all.  My '03 Deuce with the SE design always leaves the oil bag with streaks of oil.  I will be changing that to the Ness version sometime this year.

Mine was put on the 1st of March. I have ridden 2000 miles since it was installed and this is the 1st time it has puked oil. Seems odd.

The 10,000 mile service was done at the same time, no oil changes since then.
