S&S SPO Mufflers on 103
« on: August 22, 2006, 07:49:49 PM »

Anyone have experience with the S&S SPO Quiet Mufflers on their CVO 103???   Do you like them?  If not, why and what have you switched to?  I have been going crazy trying to find mufflers for my 05 SEEG.  Currently built to Stage 1 with SERT.  I didn't care for SE Exhaust.  Currently running Reinhart True Duals, and although I like the performance, I find them too loud - I know I'm getting old  :(   So I am looking to go to the quiet side.  Please help this hard of hearing old guy...

I have read a lot about the SPO's but have not seen/heard in person.  Most people that have them say they sound like a big block Chevy or offshore powerboat.  The quiet baffles that are optional, I don't even know if they are yet available even though they have been on S&S's website for a long time.  I think there is a fellow on this site with them on an 06 SEUltra and painted the ends black.  Do a search and there is a little on the SPO's on this site.  I'm definitely in the minority, but I took off the Rineharts and put the stock exhaust back on.  The stock is still not loud, but since it now (the stock exhaust) has 5,000 miles on it, it is louder than when brand new (or at least it seems).  Good luck.

D&D has a set of "Slip On " Police Interceptor " Mufflers that  are supposed to be quiet and deliver good power. I believe the R&D was done on the Ft. Worth police dept's bikes. You can check them out on there website or call Steve @ AMS in Ft Worth 817-335-9331. He seems to have the scoop probally because He is about 5 min from D&D's shop and Dave comes over and they do some R&D together>>> Hope this helps... Greg

I have the SPO's on my 06 cuse. Completely love em. I love hot rods and big sound, but not for this bike. Looks are different, but sound is great. Throaty but not loud. Perfect for the style of bike it is on. I have VH true duals also. May not put out the most hp/tq, but when you have a rider, passenger and tour pak, a couple extra peak #'s are not what I was looking for. I have SE air filter and sert. 99/99 was the #'s after the install. I am going to try to post a picture. The sound is really what I think a lot of people are looking for, other people(cages) will hear you , but you can talk and listen to tunes all day...

I have seen a few of these out on the road.  All of them had the same issue to me, did not match the chrome.  I assume they are stainless?  Do they offer them in chrome?

DO like the shape [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
