Hard water spots
« on: March 05, 2014, 08:30:42 PM »

Like an idiot, I parked my bike over a sprinkler head in an area that has notorious hard water. What is everyone's recommendation for removing them? Chrome and painted surfaces.

white vinegar is supposed to be good for that.  haven't had to do it myself, thankfully.

good luck

But I don't think it has to be pure though...

I removed hard water spots from chrome with a chrome cleaner (start with Never Dull...if that will not remove them, try Turtle Wax chrome cleaner).  For paint, I've removed water spots with Griots #2  polish and a 3 inch random orbital buffer.  It took a while, but they finally came out.

Using vinegar on paint (use white distilled vinegar only) - 1 part white vinegar mixed with 3 parts soft water, per www.vinegartips.com
